Guest guest
Until you get really sick, you have no IDEA of how truly effective it is as medicine. About 14 years ago I came down with Epstein-Barr virus. I had all the symptoms: crushing fatigue, persistent low fever, joint and muscle pain, a host of digestive complaints, even some cognitive impairment. I went to an allopathic physician, who had the sense to give me every test under the sun. My tests all came back negative, except to the various parts of the E-B virus. (It turned out the doctor had suspected Lyme disease, BTW) Anyway, she sent me home saying that there was no treatment for it, except that mild exercise sometimes seemed to help. Well I just started reading up on alternative therapies, and experimented on myself. I found that juicing fresh garlic with carrot made me feel better within one hour after taking it. As nothing else had worked before, I continued with this treatment and recovered from my actute E-B attack in less than a month. I still had some immune system impairment for a long time, though. I kept repeatedly getting the flu, and I also developed peridontal disease. (actually an autoimmune disease, which all dentists know but most people don't) With the help of a TCM doctor I have succeeded in rebuilding my health. I'll be 50 in a few weeks, and I'm healthier than I'd ever been since I was a teenager. I keep eating garlic just about every day, and if I stop for too long I notice a distinct difference in my health. So... " bite the bullet, " LOL. Just chow down on that garlic. If you spread out several cloves over the course of a day, eaten with well-seasoned food, you shouldn't have much problem digesting it. There's always a workaround for that anyway, as there are many spices and other natural substances, like digestive enzymes, yogurt, cumin and fennel seeds, astafetida, peppermint tea, that are all digestive system enhancers. Start with one small clove a day if you're squeamish, LOL Just don't COOK the garlic. Oh, yeah, you can cook with it and then it is just a flavoring. I use tons of garlic in my cooking and I bake garlic as well to spread it on bread. Tasty. But for medicinal effects: Gotta eat the stuff raw...
