Guest guest
Hi Tom here use teatree oil it is the best for your gums Garden wrote: Hi, I would like herbal recommendations to help my teeth and gums. I am in my 60;s and I have a history of easily decaying teeth, childhood in England, candies, poor dental hygiene. Anyway, eventually started taking care of my teeth and ended up with lots of fillings (eventually all mercury fillings have been removed) but have lots of crowns. The teeth under the crowns are starting to show decay here and there too. I had a history of gum problems but have had an excellent diet (juicing vegetables/eating raw fruits/veg/vegetarian diet that includes organic yogurt and eggs and occasional cheese) so gums have not been a problem but would like to make sure they stay that way. The dentist told me to rinse my mouth last thing at night with ACT a fluoride rinse, said it will help stop decay. I am reluctant to use this. I do use Braun electric toothbrush/WaterPik/flossing etc. So any recommendations for toothpaste/mouthwash are gratefully received. I must admit that until recently I had been drinking my english cup of tea daily that included sugar (organic!) I have stopped drinking it but I realise that I have probably should not have continued it for so long. Thank youanne h Federal Law requires that we warn you of the following: 1. Guest guest
Dear Ann We'll thats a new one on me I've use it for like 15 years and never had any problem? Know other people too and never hjear any complaints from them either? Tom Ann Melin wrote: Just a warning, I have a friend who used straight tea tree oil to brush his teeth for a while and it wound up stripping the enamel off of all of his teeth resulting in the need for 10 crowns! I gather that in smaller doses and when balanced in the proper formula, it can be helpful for gums but after seeing what my friend went through, I'd be wary of using straight tea tree oil in your mouth. Guest guest
Note to all. The Melaleuca products are horrible. They dilute the "Patented" melaleuca oil. & you can buy a higher quality for half the price in the real world. -Shelby Suzanne Nottmeier [suziesgoats]Tuesday, February 04, 2003 5:07 PMherbal remedies Subject: Re: [herbal remedies] tooth and gum questions It could be the brand of tea tree... depending on the potency or how "diluted" it is... I have had some that weren't worth much.... Good tea tree oil is expensive... but then sometimes you pay alot and get "screwed".... so to speak. Guest guest
The thing to remember here is that all essential oils are extremely potent plant oils. It takes extremely large amounts of plant material to extract a tiny amount of essential oil. As all other natural medicinals, if not used correctly, they can harm you. Their uses are mostly external and aromatic. Tea tree and lavender EOs are probably the most versatile of them all. Used correctly, they are an asset to any first aid/medicinal kit. Janet - Garden herbal remedies Tuesday, February 04, 2003 5:33 PM RE: [herbal remedies] tooth and gum questions I have been putting 1 drop on my toothbrush and then adding a dab of toothpaste, I think that should be safe. I also know of someone who almost died. He got involved in a MLM company that markets melalueca oil products and was told to gargle, clean his teeth and SWALLOW tea tree oil straight. I kid you not, he ended up in hospital with severe throat problems. I don't remember the details but I do know he almost died =:0 I have also made up a mix of tinctures of myrhh/calendula/goldenseal and I add it to some water and swish mouth with it daily. anne h Just a warning, I have a friend who used straight tea tree oil to brush histeeth for a while and it wound up stripping the enamel off of all of histeeth resulting in the need for 10 crowns!
