Guest guest
The theory is that children that have ADHD have low levels of essential fatty acids (EFA). Also if they have excessive thirst, brittle nails, dry hair and dry skin they probably need a dietary supplement of EFAs. Flax seed oil, fish oil and evening primrose are loaded with EFAs. So when taken, the body gets the fatty acids it craves and the ADHD symptoms go away or lessens. http://www.hopefs.org/Behavior/ADHD.html But for every article and medical opinion you find that says ADHD is caused because of the low levels of EFAs, you will find that it's not true. I swear by it and believe that it does help Nate. I mentioned it to a friend of mine and she started her son on flax seed oil. She also has seen a major improvement. Another lady I know said she tried it and her son turned manic. Nate gets two teaspoons every morning. I give him the liquid because the capsules do not compare to the liquid. I think it would take ten capsules to equal one teaspoon. He takes it straight out of the bottle. He doesn't care for the taste but takes it. Some people mix it in with applesauce or put it in a smoothie. I guess it helps with the taste. He is much calmer and can focus much better while on flax seed oil. I believe it helps him at school. We were giving him the capsules and he was bringing home tons of work each night. The teacher would write notes that he had a bad day, he wasn't trying, ect. When I talked to my friend, she said the capsules are not equal to the liquid. So I did a search and found this: 2 capsules contains Omega-3 1100-1200 mg (55-60%), Omega-6 340-400 mg (17-20%), and Omega-9 320-400 mg (16-20%) oils. Take one or two capsules with a meal three times daily. Also Available in Liquid:Each tablespoon (14 g) contains 14,000 mg of Flax Seed Oil with ligans: Omega-3 (alpha-linolenic acid), 7700 mg - 8400 mg and Omega-6 (linoleic acid) 1960 mg - 2380 mg. He has been back on the liquid for almost a week and the improvement was seen about an hour later. He wasn't thinking faster than his mouth could move, he wasn't bouncing off the walls and he wasn't emotional. It was WONDERFUL. My friend said that because the results were so fast, that it showed how badly his body was missing the EFA's. We did try Ritalin for five days. It was horrible and that is what made me start searching natural remedies. I am so glad that I did!! BTW, we don't have any testing done through the school. They have gave excuses and lies to us because they don't want to pay for it. So we have taken him to private doctors and had all testing done. A neuropsychologist tested him for the ADHD. He has had his hearing tested by a private audiologist. He was just to a speech therapist who DX him as possible central auditory processing disorder (CAPD) and having difficulty with sounds awareness. He will start occupational therapy because he has fine motor coordination issues. Now that we have paid for everything ourselves, the school is willing to help him. BTW, CAPD can look like ADHD. It has the same symptoms and the two often gets mixed up. Good luck and if you have any questions, please ask away. ~`~`~`~`~`~`~`~`~`~`~Holly & The Emerald Jewels:Nathaniel (5/96) & Jenavieve (5/02)http://www.geocities.com/maymom96/
