Guest guest
Prader-Willi syndrome is a genetic disorder Doc. The most profound effect is that the child has an insatiable appetite and will eat literally everything he/she can unless food is locked up. The metabolism slows to a crawl and babies with this disorder often get extremely obese. These children usually have cognitive problems simular to autism. There is a lot more, of course, but I am sure Susan can tell you more. It is always best to describe these so called "illnesses" and to fully define them when asking about them. Please realize that the medical profession comes out with at least a dozen new so called "diseases" every year and it's hard to keep up with some of these names. Sheesh! LOL This is one of the ways the Medicos keep us hooked on allopathic medicine. They make it so difficult to understand what is going on with us phsyically that most people just give up trying to understand so we'll leave our health up to them, rather than being causative ourselves. With this syndrome comes some behaviour problems of depression and anxiety. Many parents just throw their kids on Prozac, Zoloft, Buspar type medications. I don't want to do this yet. I'd like to try some herbal things first. I hesitate to ask his endocrinologist about using herbs, because with most doctors, you get the rolling eyes thrown at you. I've been reading a lot of information on St. John's Wort and 5HTP. I was wondering if this could be of any use to my son without interfering with his growth hormone therapy.Which one might be the better one to try for him? Can you help me with these questions?SusanFederal Law requires that we warn you of the following: 1. Natural methods can sometimes backfire. 2.
