Guest guest
Doc, My 18 yr old son has to take injections of growth hormones every night because of the type of syndrome he has(Prader-Willi Syndrome). With this syndrome comes some behaviour problems of depression and anxiety. Many parents just throw their kids on Prozac, Zoloft, Buspar type medications. I don't want to do this yet. I'd like to try some herbal things first. I hesitate to ask his endocrinologist about using herbs, because with most doctors, you get the rolling eyes thrown at you. I've been reading a lot of information on St. John's Wort and 5HTP. I was wondering if this could be of any use to my son without interfering with his growth hormone therapy.Which one might be the better one to try for him? Can you help me with these questions? Guest guest
Hiya Mom Why don't you look into SAM-e and 5-htp both of which are naturally occuring substances in our bodies? Also more B-complex. Do your homework, then talk to the endocrinologist and insist on a studied answer. I've been 'training' my son's docs for years now... no more eye rolling. Not only that, but every time we see a doc or have a visit from the paramedics, I hand them a list of ALL pharmaceuticals and supplements Charlie is taking. To me, they are one and the same.... an attempt to correct imblances in my son's physical being. mjh herbal remedies , " susanjbfree <stjames5@s...> " <stjames5@s...> wrote: > Doc, > My 18 yr old son has to take injections of growth hormones every > night because of the type of syndrome he has(Prader-Willi Syndrome). > With this syndrome comes some behaviour problems of depression and > anxiety. Guest guest
Dear Susan, First off, what in the Sam Dickens is Prader-Willi syndrome??? It is always best to describe these so called "illnesses" and to fully define them when asking about them. Please realize that the medical profession comes out with at least a dozen new so called "diseases" every year and it's hard to keep up with some of these names. Sheesh! LOL This is one of the ways the Medicos keep us hooked on allopathic medicine. They make it so difficult to understand what is going on with us phsyically that most people just give up trying to understand so we'll leave our health up to them, rather than being causative ourselves. Guest guest
Hmmmmmmm, thanks hon. Love, Doc PS. It is amazing how many of these genetic disorders are starting to come to the forefront in this day and age. As far as I have been able to determine by my own observation and analysis in this area which I admit is somewhat limited at this time, there are two basic "Physical Causes" of genetic disability: #1. Radiation. #2. Bio-chemical and nutritional toxicity and / or imbalances. I suppose there could be a third with: A "natural" incompatibility of genetic resources = the parents don't mix genetically. But I am not convinced of this, and strongly doubt it. I think it is conclusive that Mental Stress brought about by the environment as in both #1 & #2 precedes the disorders.
