does anyone know of any holistic oriented doctors - both medical and

dental in the houston/galveston area? i am through with conventional

attitudes. i was scheduled for oral surgery today and had my

meditation cd going (headphones), essential oils for relaxation and

crystals and a gratitude rock in my hands. they took away my rocks and

crystals and the dentist became verbally and physically abusive. he

stopped the procedure, walked out of the room and left me there. the

staff had no clue what was going on. an hour later, i was told he

needed to reschedule. this is total nonsense. thanks for listening

and any help you may have to offer. have a wonderful day! happy

thoughts of love, peace and light

Just curious, was your oral surgeon aware that you were going to be

doing this or did it catch him as a surprise. If it was a surpirse,

that would be obviously a shock to him since most likely he has never

seen this before. If he knew in advance, then it was unprofessional

of him to just stop everything.

As someone who has worked as a dental assistant off and on for many

years, I would go so far as to recommend this: Find yourself a new

dentist.

Any dentist who abuses a patient in this manner, especially if it was

physical and was degrading to your personal beliefs needs to be

reported to his or her state board. You can find most state health

boards, medical, dental and otherwise, on the internet with a little

research. If it is during the normal work week, I would even suggest

calling the state board and lodging a complaint by phone. Just make

sure you have his or her full name and the address their office is

located at.

That kind of dentist doesn't really need to be practicing. If what you

walked in with challenged his personal beliefs, then he should have

politely asked you to stow the stones and crystals in your pockets, if

you had them or give them over to the staff for safekeeping if you

didn't. But, they really shouldn't have asked you to give them up if

they posed no threat.

The only time taking something like that from a patient is even

marginally acceptable is when a patient is being placed under

sedation. Usually general. Not gas. And only then because people have

a tendency to lose their inhibitions, and throwing things at someone

who is perceived to be causing pain is one of those inhibitions. It is

indeed very much a matter of protecting the staff, but also a matter

of protecting your patients.

My word...if he treated a paying client that way, I wonder how he

treats his staff. Scary...not a place I'd want to work.

Just a former dental assistant's two cents' worth.

Many Blessings,

Dawn

Well said, Dawn! As a former nurse, (MA)-I totally agree and support Dawn's

views on this.

This Dentist was completely out of line, legally and professionally-not to

mention morally (in mho).

Look for another Dentist and you might want to mention your methods for

relaxation when scheduling a new Dentist,

just to get a sense about how the new one might react.

Best of luck to you,

Susan

Speaking of Houston area detists the mercedies lady is

back in the court house today for a civil trial his

parents are suing her for the wrongful death of their

son. So much for family unity.

Go to your health food store and inquire. They usually have directories to

naturopathic Doctors and Dentists there. If they are all given out, ask how to

get one. Their are usually health newspapers and booklets available also with

ads placed by Naturopathic Doctors.

Peace. Thyme

PS

They act like that because they are losing business to Naturopaths. They

will tell you that alternative health providers are all quacks.

don't take it personally.

Dear Annie,

Three cheers for you with your rocks

and oils! It is up to us patients

to educate the medical profession.

Pretty soon they'll have no choice

but to go natural. I hope.

You can try http://acam.org for a doctor.

Ask Jan Jenson for a list of dentists.

She ran a neat magazine for a while devoted

to the connection between oral health and

all over health. If anyone knows she will.

Jan is extremely knowledgeable in all health

matters, and a fascinating multi-talented person.

Tell her Ien from B.C. sent you.

Her email is vizual

As a Dental Assistant for over 7 years now, I know that he had no right to do

what he did to you.....he should have continued the surgery in a professional

manner. Though, some docs might think the rocks or crystals might be accidently

thrown in the room if you jerked and no one was expecting it......get me???

I hope I was of some help....I am on your side.....

thank you for your advice. i truly feel used and assualted not only spiritually

but also physically - covered my mouth several times and refused to allow me to

ask any questions and then in disgust pulled the nose mask (nitrous) off my face

and it slapped back to my face. by the way, i have witnessed him verbally abuse

his staff.

i went to another dentist and they allowed me to use my crystals and also

receive foot reflexology by a massage therapist friend of mine. they were truly

wonderful and actually suggested i contact the police to report an assault

charge. unfortunately, the root is so decayed (should have been done last year

as i requested), he was unable to do the procedure. now i have had over a dozen

injections and nothing productive has been done.

i will be seeing an endo dentist tomorrow morning in katy, tx that will give

me a pill to calm me, then nitrous to calm me some more and then an iv to put me

out. they are aware of my woobie kit and bag of mojo. wish me luck, light and

energy! thanks for listening and caring. this group is so awesome!

curious - why did you leave the dental profession?

i totally forgot about her - thank heavens she wasn't my dentist! by the way,

the bad dentist had just gone through a very ugly (and expensive) divorce and is

on a holy roller campaign. he has even told me in the past to throw away my

books and has given me books of his chosing to read instead. it has been

suggested that perhaps his ex was into the metaphysical and me and my woobie kit

and bag of mojo was the last straw (did i mention that he asked me if i had left

my partner and when i said no, he smiled and said when are you going to?) have

a great day!
