My Ex-mother-in-law used to get roaches from nearby

farms etc. She would put boric acid and sugar in an

old mayonaise jar lid and put it under the fridge

where the pets and kids couldn't get to it. The

roaches are attracted to the sugar get it and the

boric acid on their bodies and take it back to the

nests where the babies feed off the mixture on the

adult bodies. It kills the babies too. No sprays or

other chemicals in the house and is effective. When I

was in Chicago this worked better than the quarterly

sprayings we were subject to.

Diatomaceous earth takes care of just about any bug. You can get it at

gardening supply stores. Don't use the kind processed for use in

swimming pools.

Great for getting rid of fleas as well. just be very careful when

you spread it, as it is very fine, and if it gets in your lungs, it's

very abrasive, and you will be coughing for days (didn't I learn THAT

the hard way!). Just wear a mask or bandanna over your nose and

mouth and you should be fine. It's best when spread around the

baseboard areas, as well as the areas of highest concentration of the

pests.

Bay leaves keep the roaches away. Put some in all your cupboards and soon you

will be roachfree.

That never worked for me, for cereal moths either, but maybe the bay

leaves were too old or irradiated.

You can try putting out bowls of wine. They are attracted to the smell. They'll

fall in and drown. Or you could try sprinkiling sweet & low or sugar substitute.

This kills ants. Might kill roaches too.

For the roaches, Put sugar and boric acid in a container, I use the

containers that milk comes in and cut a hole near the middle of it, fill it half

way

to the hole. Put these containers in cabinets especially under sinks, behind

the stove, behind the washer and up high on shelves in closets and even in the

trap door in the ceiling. Did this five years ago and have not seen a roach

since. They climb in to eat the sugar and track it back to nests on their

feet. They like damp , moist areas for water. the containers are easy to

dispose

of and new ones can be made to make sure that get rid of them.

Peace, thyme

Lol. You know, there have always been rip off artists out there. My

grandfather, who would be around 120 now, told me once that when he was a

young man he sent for a " guaranteed roach killer " out of a magazine. He only

paid a couple dollars for it, but back then that was a lot. He said that

when he got the package it was two blocks of wood with the instructions " put

roach on one block, flatten with the other block " . Lololol
