**********HUH??? I do NOT trust ANYTHING tested and approved by the

FDA...VIOXX is a good example. (snip) Aspartame... <<

Go right along with this. IF FDA approved then ALL the *more* reason to

check it out!

Most of those 'approved' pharma drugs are in fact killers, far more so than

the alternatives (check out the bisphosphonates, can cause bone necrospy and

phossi-jaw - and *don't do owt for osteoporosis!) Not to say that I

disregard ALL the pharma drugs, just most of em, and run, fast as my two wee

stumps

will take me, in the opposite direction.

Molly,

I agree. I think the FDA submits to political pressure at the

expense of the general publics health. Like they approve drugs with

the theory that bugs and defects will show up eventually.

Unfortunately those are only detected when it harms someone or they

die. I only medicate when I HAVE TO!!!

There has been some stories in the last decade of unethical alliances

between some people in the FDA and some pharmaceutical companies. I do not

know how that affects the safety of our pharmaceuticals as a whole, but it

does give the perception that the FDA appproval process may have some holes

in it.

Sometimes there is no approval because it was not required. So, it's a

little more complicated for the buyer. One other possible resource is the

National Institutes of Health in the Complimentary and Alternative Medicine

Division. There is some information on herbs, for example. I think they

mention only what has been clinically provable.

There may also be a naturopathic group doing some research. Murray and

Pizzorno mention research in their books. Might try finding the two US

schools' websites.
