Guest guest
Drink a cup of chamomile tea to induce sleepiness. Also during the last part of pregnancy it is uncomfortable to sleep laying down and that may be the problem. Try sleeping in a recliner chair with lots of pillows to make yourself more comfortable. If all fails and you still cannot sleep, then know that soon the baby will be born and you are just getting training for lots more sleepless nights till the baby sleeps through the night. A new born can turn you into a walking zombie from lack of sleep. Chamomile tea is safe for infants also and especially good for colicky ones. But never try to give them any liquid when they are screaming. The danger is that some may be inhaled into the lungs. The joys of motherhood are endless. Guest guest
Hi, I am about three weeks before my due date of my pregnancy. For about the last two weeks I've had really bad boughts of insomnia. I'm not getting a decent restorative sleep. My docotr told me to take a medicine like benadryl or exedrine PM but I've been trying to keep my pregnancy as chemical free as possible. Are there any alternatives that are safer for me and my baby? My stress levels are not a factor, I stopped working and have fairly quiet and peaceful days during my entire pregnancy. I also continued to work out lightly and get plenty of fresh air daily. I'm so at odds about why this insomnia is hitting me. Karolina
Guest guest
Niacin( not niacinamide) deficiency can cause insomnia. When I am feeling sleepless, before I have used an herbal formulation made by Herbs, etc, called " Deep Sleep " -- it is a liquid herbal extract of california poppy, valerian, orange peel, and oats. It works pretty good! Also, melatonin is a naturally occuring substance in the body that triggers sleep and can be taken in supplement form. I do not know the technicalities on whether any or all of these suggestions are safe for you to take while pregnant. It seems to me since they are natural, it would be better than taking a drug. Guest guest
Karolina, Please refrain fron taking benadryl or other drugs. Have you tried homeopathics? There's a good product called 'Calms Forte'by Hyland's and it's a homeopathic preparation that my midwife recommended to me during my last pregancy. I could not sleep, no matter how tired I was and this remedy helped out a lot. I'm sure there are other homeopathic preparations that would work as well These are completely safe during pregnancy, and are safe for anyone, even infants. Good Luck and Take Care, Good for you for not wanting to take drugs!! Connie mom of 3 , " Karolina " <kvl wrote: > > Hi, > I am about three weeks before my due date of my pregnancy.
