Guest guest
Is anyone else getting " invites " to other health groups and then actually getting automatically signed up? I've gotten TWO such " invites " followed by a message stating " I've added you to my health group " , etc. This last one is healthforum group. This is starting to tick me off, because I have to go and ! I know other people list their health groups here, and that's fine. If I want to join a group I will but I DON'T WANT anyone automatically adding me to their group!! STOP IT. Renee
Guest guest
Yes I am getting them too. Guest guest
Renee, The same groups did it to me, plus a couple more. The worst part is some aren't even in English! Now I get emails in what I guess is Malaysian. And what's up with all the Muslim singles spam? Today I d from another group because someone in the group started getting nasty and posting insults. There are enough other groups on google, msn and other places where if you get tired of the infighting and ignorant people you can just dump 'em. Look at this group now - there are so many people trying to enforce rules that very little real info is filtering through. Can't we all just get along? , " Renee " <gaiacita wrote: > > Is anyone else getting " invites " to other health groups and then > actually getting automatically signed up? Guest guest
Hi Renee I've received the invites as well but they can't automatically add me to their groups. You can change your setting in so all they can do is invite you Log in to your and go to Email preferences, You'll see all your email addresses listed - go to Edit for each address and you will see a check mark in a box that says 'allow group moderators to directly ass me to their groups' - Remove the check mark and save the changes. This won't stop all the email invite harrassments but at least you won't have to be going and unsubscribing from groups. I hope this helps some Glenda - " Renee " <gaiacita Saturday, January 06, 2007 11:48 PM New groups Is anyone else getting " invites " to other health groups and then actually getting automatically signed up? Guest guest
Hi M. I don't understand how those " moderators " or list owners think they are enhancing their groups by automatically adding everyone from every group they are in, to their group! No one that is not interested in their group will ever post, and they will go and unsub, so what is the point??? Just stupid people I guess. Anyway, what Glenda wrote remedies the situation. I never knew about that option, but just went and changed my settings. Now at least I won't be bothered by the jerks anymore. Every group goes through clashes and disagreements sometimes. We are a huge group and everyone has their own opinion. But eventually it all gets settled and we all get along again, so that's the main thing. There's so much great knowledge out there, and personal experiences, to share and it's groups like this that make it all possible. I'm glad I'm here. Guest guest
you can also change the setting to not recieve any invitations at all, if you would rather not receive invitations either. ONly if you ASK somebody to add you to their group, then and only then are they supposed to add you. otherwise, if they have no instruction from you that you want to be added, they should only invite you and nothing more. Guest guest
You'll stillr eceive the invite emails, Renee unless you change the 'invite' settings as well but at elast they won't be able to add you to the lists automatically - that is just plain irritating! I'm glad I am here too. I have learned so much and look forward to my email everyday. Thanks to the owner, moderators and posters who share their knowledge with us beginners! Guest guest
Oh, I don't mind the invites themselves. It's just another way to advertise your list--and who knows, maybe one of them will be interesting to me. I do go and check out every new group that is listed just in case I might want to join. I just do NOT want someone adding me without my permission. Guest guest
i've gone and checked them out as i often do...one of them has useful info in it...knowing that i'll get a digest where i may be able to alter my lifestyle just that little bit (like eating more red cabbage for which i have plenty of recipes) is enough of a benefit for me to scan through the email... this group has been by far though the best source of quality discussion on alternative options. but it never hurts to read more...i have my primary groups (those to which i post even if infrequently) and then i have the informational groups where i just pick out little handy pieces of information... if you have the time to scan through a digest for keywords of interest to you then the invites are handy...otherwise, just another spam...and who doesn't get that hamish. -- -------------------------------- The Keeper of the Big Blue Cable of Connectivity TKBBCC - DNRC I:274300250 Y:hamish_dy M:hamish WL:hamish-dy
