Guest guest
I had to share this experience with this board. A friend of mine was recently admitted to the hospital due to her doctor's concern with her asmtha. While in the hospital, they gave her a IV to control her asmtha. Unfortunately, there were some side effects. Her sugar level spiked and she became a " temporary " diabetic. They have also found that with some of the medications they gave her to combat her asthma and " temporary " diabetes " her calcium has leached from her bones making them brittle. She was told that when she leaves the hospital, she will have to use a walker for fear that she may fall and break her brittle bones. This totally amazed me. As somone who works in the wellness industry, it just overwhelms me what hospitals and doctors can do to someone. I am sure others have had experieneces as this person has. r/ Nick Skias
Guest guest
And they have made ephedra dangerous? It would have worked for the asthma very well Peace, Thyme
Guest guest
Nick,,,,,,,,,,,,, You are awfully correct when you assumed others have had very bad experiences with hospitals and doctors in hospitals ! ! I have had a worse experience,,,,,,,,, I lost my mom at 1;35am Thanksgiving morning 2001 due to a radiologist (which the hospital declared did no wrong)...... who botched a delicate procedure in which the patient ( my mother) needed constant supervision and overseeing until they were sure she was going to be stable BUT INSTEAD THEY BROUGHT HER BACK TO HER ROOM AND DID NOT KEEP CHECKING ON HER OR MONITORING HER,,,,, THEY SIMPLY IGNORED AND FORGOT ABOUT HER ...meanwhile her lungs started to fill up with her own blood because of the botched procedure and by the time they finally walked into check on her, they realized what was happening to her..... it was to late to reverse and stop the bleeding...........the damage was done !! This happened at a major hospital here in Hollywood, which is overseen by a government entity ( South Broward Hospital District) I think it is imperative ,, that everyone be very cautious, concerned,,,,, and aware of hospitalization today at any age,,,,,,,the older you are ,,,,,the MORE CONCERNED AND AWARE YOU SHOULD BE ! Why ? ? ( Because of the more lack of concern and caring attitude they have for the elderly patient ) Those people not watching her closely and carefully after the procedure was completed and the " doctor " who botched the procedure in the first place literally murdered my mother that night,,,,,,,,,,, Everyone, be advised , be very cautious,,,,be very wary, and extremely concerned with any hospitalization in today' s rush through it , dont focus on your job , care less , ,,,,climate,,,,,,,,,,,, After five years i still have nightmarish dreams of experiencing her dying like its on a continuous loop on a vhs tape and i still ask myself the question....what was that doctor thinking when he did the procedure at 6:30pm that night??? Washe hurrying to get off work to go out to dinner for the holiday with his wife? and oh, she was only 86 years old anyhow ,,,,, what is the life span of an 86 year old anyway.... ? she's not going to live many more years anyhow right? She was more than my mom she was our companies CEO , and my partner ! Learn ,,,,,,,everyone LEARN from this post ! A J Poulin PDSS Inc. Guest guest
I am so sorry about what happened to your mother. I can vouch for the fact that as you get older you don't receive the best of care, I am almost 70 and I already notice the difference in attitude. I tripped over a baby swing late at night and broke my nose. The Doctor I saw said that nothing was broken and insinuated that I must have been drinking.. .I do not drink alcohol. My hand was black and blue and swollen and I was in much pain. He gave me pain pills that made me very ill and I could not take them and it is good that I did not as I found out that they were highly addictive, but I was given no warning of that. I still have trouble with my hand but I can use it now. My concern about my hand was just dismissed as trivial. I went to another Doctor because I knew my nose was broken and he recommended surgery. I came out of surgery not being able to breathe normally and when I went back in to see him because I could not breathe, he suggested more pain pills which I declined. He said there was nothing wrong with my nose.To this day one side of my nose is closed off so that I can only breathe out of one side and cannot lay on that side. It has been two years and I still have a lot of trouble with my nose. I have a permanent sinus condition. I would have been better off letting my nose heal naturally as I could at least breathe before surgery. My nose is now crooked and I have scars on the bridge, so he certainly did not take any pains to make it look better. Dr. Andrew Weil says that the people who live the longest, do not go to Doctors. I believe it. I have always taken care of myself with herbs and such. If I ever break another part of my body, I will take care of that myself. I do not like being treated as though my life is not important or that I am an alcoholic. I happen to be raising great grand children and grand children and my life is important to them for sure. Yes I recommend that if anyone has an elder in the hospital to watch over them carefully and question any lack of care or callous attitudes.
