Guest guest
Imagine going to a health fair. You wander from booth to booth, picking up samples and brochures. You stop here and there to chat with other visitors or with the knowledgeable people in the brightly decorated stalls. The people who staff the booths are friendly, know their products, and support each other. They are never pushy. They come to the fair to learn as well as to show their stuff. They can be found visiting other booths to chat, talk shop, and see what other good stuff is out there. The visitors feel no pressure. They just enjoy looking around and picking the brains of the well-informed sales staff. Doesn't it sound like a health fair like that could be fun? Dear list friends, that is exactly what we can have here from the comfort of our own computer. Some of us are just visitors, some of us have an online store. All of us enjoy the learning and sharing. Perhaps much of the resentment against us storekeepers can be reduced if we warn you when you are about to step into our booth, into the commercial space. I for one enjoy visiting other people's " booth " without going through the hassle of emailing them privately, as if a good product that they use themselves is a deep dark secret that it would be evil to mention.
