Guest guest
I take omega 3, 6 and 9 supplements in the form of Flaxseed oil. Most recommendations I see say to take them in the form of fish oil. Is there a difference? Guest guest
There are recent studies showing a substantial difference in the efficacy of fish oils over plant sources of essential fatty acids. However, if you're taking steps to improve such things in your diet, either choice is going to put you ahead of 95% of the pack. In fact, the finding of one recent study said that the benefits of fish oils greatly outweigh the risks of heavy metal poisoning from fatty fish. One solution to the risk is a high-quality fish oil supplement, which uses the Harvard Patented molecular distillation process to ensure the oils are toxin free. There are a small few companies that do this so call the number on the bottle and ask if they are 3-rd party certified to be toxin free. Additionally, you should only worry about Omega 3 which are anti-inflammatory. Modern diets already have an imbalance in favor of 6 and 9 which is pro-inflammatory. -Dave _____ Dave Saunders, NC, DNEH Certified Nutritional Educator and Wellness Coach, ANA Member of the American International Association of Nutritional Education (AIANE) For nutrition and wellness info from a true educator, visit <http://www.glycowellness.com> www.glycowellness.com Free videos at <http://www.glycoawareness.com/> www.glycoawareness.com _____ On Behalf Of Wednesday, December 20, 2006 4:17 PM Omega 3 Oil question I take omega 3, 6 and 9 supplements in the form of Flaxseed oil. Guest guest
Actually there is controversy on whether flaxseed oil is good or bad. Take a look at this article, which is one example. There are a lot of benefits to fish oil that are not the same as flaxseed oil. http://www.mercola.com/2003/jan/1/fish_oil.htm , <down2earthspirit wrote: > > I take omega 3, 6 and 9 supplements in the form of Flaxseed oil. Guest guest
make sure you are balancing your omega fatty acids. Too much of one is bad. In America, the bulk of our diets consist of Omega 6 which is a pro-inflammatory agent. Not enough omega 3 leaves this unbalanced. Watch your diet also, see what you are taking in that contains the 3 Omega's. Then, make sure you are balancing them. , <down2earthspirit wrote: > > I take omega 3, 6 and 9 supplements in the form of Flaxseed oil.
