Guest guest
Linda Bumpas asked: " How do you make a tincture? " Making herbal tinctures is the easiest thing in the world! Gather your plant material, whatever it is, clean it, put it in a glass jar and cover it with a good alcohol or with organic apple cider vinegar. Cider tinctures don't last more than a year. I use Smirnoff's Blue Label wodka because it is 50% alcohol. I add an equal part of water for a 25% alcohol tincture that seems to last forever. Cover, put in a dark place like a kitchen cupboard, and shake it a bit now and then. Officially daily but I never remember and my tinctures are quite good. Ideally, start your tincture under the New Moon and let it sit for 6 weeks. Under the second Full Moon strain the liquid off the plant material and there you are! I let Echinacea sit longer than the leafy things. Usually from fall to spring. I may even take some finished tincture off the top and add some more wodka. It works really well. Have fun with this, and unless you plan to use dangerous plants, don't be afraid to play!
