Hot Tub without Chemicals

Does anyone on here or anyone you know have a hot tub and not use

chemicals? We are getting a hot tub shortly and I do NOT want to use

chemicals at all--not to mention it will be in a sunroom which is

inside the house and I will NOT be smelling those chemicals all the

time. There are non-chemical systems i've seen on the internet but

don't know which ones are reputable. I cannot use colloidal silver

because my son is allergic to silver. Does anyone have any ideas or

recommendations? I would really really appreciate it. Thanks you all.

Hi Marci,

I don't have one myself but when I was a kid my parents had an ionizer or

something like that for their hot tub.

I believe it involves less chemicals rather than none - at least that is

what someone told me at a hot tub store recently. I'm not sure though as I

remember my dad telling me to use the hot tub water for our tropical fish

and they seemed to do very well with it, so I am thinking there wasn't any.

You'll want to make sure you get something good in place as it can be

difficult to regulate bacteria, etc. in hot tub water even with chemicals.

Take care,

Marci,

We just switched from chemicals to 35% food grade hydrogen peroxide

and so far so good. It does not do anything for lime buildup or

scale so you will have to keep an eye on that. Our tub came with a

five year warranty and I assume that if they know that we are not

using their chemicals it could void that warranty.

I tried every non chlorine product out there and each was worse than

the last. Not to be graphic but,,,,I would get such horrible rashes

on my legs that I would not be able to go in the tub again for 2 - 3

weeks. Then my husband started the same thing so I searched for

something different.

This is where we got it from. Good Luck and if you find anything

better please share.

Hi Marci,

I know exactly what you mean. I hate pools and hot

tubs that use chlorine, yuk, it makes your skin feel

like its crawling. I have also vowed when I finally

make a swimming pool it has to chemical free or its

just not worth it. Until then I just use the ocean,

hahaha.

But that idea got me thinking about the excellent

preservative & nutritional qualities of sea salt. Not

the industrial by-product table salt, but pure sea

salt. Here is a link from our site about sea salt, be

sure to read the " more info " its loaded with tons of

good info

http://www.sensatia.com/bath_en/sea_salt/unrefined_organic.php

Anyway I thought I would make this suggestion, though

I don't really know anyone that has used just sea

salt, but surely there must be someone that has done

this. It would be a really great thing for your body

if it were possible. I am sure there are companies in

the states selling big sacks of sea salt if you find

someone with experience in this matter. Good luck.

Hope this helps.

Sincerely,

Michael Lorenti

I did hear of a sea salt pool recently (saw it in a real estate listing

actually!) so maybe there are sea salt hot tubs.

That would really be great!!

Teresa,

That is really a great idea! Our hot tub has an ionizer which reduces the need

for chemicals so I wonder how much to use? How much do you use and how often? I

actually take H2O2 baths from time to time with a cup in a bath so after reading

it is very diluted in a hot tub. I've seen several non-chemical things on the

internet but was afraid of exactly what happened to you!! You never know but I

trust h202 more than most anything!

White vinager is good for lime scale buildup and soap.

We used that in the laundrymat a worked at to remove

the soap and scale in the washing machines. I use it

here at home with baking soda to open stuck drains.
