Guest guest
If the wound is large and open you do not want to seal the outside of it. You want it to heal from the inside outward. It will need to remain open for drainage as it heals from the inside out because if you close the top layer and the bottom is not yet healed you will trap bacteria and possibly get an infection. One thing you do not want to do is to repeated clean it out with hydrogen peroxide or betadine or something similar because it will tear the healing tissue. Do not use peroxide or iodine after the first 48 hours. You can flush the wound with colloidal silver (very gently) or with tea tree oil in a small dose syringe. Leave the wound undressed as much as possible - the air will heal it, covering it only at night when it has contact with sheets or something that might irritate it. Again, make sure it stays open on top so it can heal from inside to outside.
