I concur with Z'ev about the effect of pot on the yin. When I was an intern

in Portland, OR at OCOM, it seems to me that we had LOADS of patients who

smoked pot regularly, and not for any particular medicinal effects.

Typically, the patients I saw had bright red, dry, and cracked tongues.

They also exhibited a lot of anxiety, such as fear of leaving the house, and

there was a lot of insomnia. Also, with xu heat building, they'd also often

twitch, tap their feet incessently, talk continuously, and have difficulty

relaxing during the treatments. Pot does seem to plunder the yin in

general, and I think it has a direct effect on Heart yin.

most qi regulating, damp and phlegm transforming herbs can easily

plunder the yin so this makes sense. But I believe it can be utilized

medicinally by crafting a formula that offsets it adverse effects. It

is safer than narcotics and may be useful in certain pain conditions.

Eclectics placed it in between herbs like willow bark and opium.

Specifically joint pain (at least in Hawai'i), bi pain or perhaps blood

stagnation pain, I don't know which. Try to figure the energetics for gynomastia

(breast growth in men)...

I'll assume that was a joke. But just in case, ... gynecomastia was

never caused by marijuana. That was just one more scare tactic in the

seventies to scare away pubescent teens from the stuff. Seems to have

worked as good as all the other lies we tell our kids. When will we

learn?

There was some old medical research with Niacin and treatment of various

mental disorders. They used high doses.

What I know is that for some folks Niacin does help control the mood

components of what might be either bipolar disorder or other.

There is something calming about the afterflush...lol.

Anecdotally, about the time I began using niacin (500mg tid) for cholesteral

problems, I also stopped having the problems with severe depression that had

cropped on and off for years...

Thanks for the lot of feedback on marijuana.

Sepp Hasslberger, thanks to you to suggest to add B1, Ca and Mg. I will do

that.

" Mary " , you said something else must have driven my son to marijuana as

marijuana itself cannot cause psychosis. I think that was the case.

" lonnie patton " has rightly thought there might have been some contamination

in the marijuana used. I am sure of that. It must not have been pure

marijuana.

All the above might have been correct. But, having travelled through three

years of different labels like schiz, schizoaffective, depression, bipolar

following his 1-year history of marijuana smoking, where do we go? He has

passed all the exams of the mainstream medical school, won prizes in debates

and poetry (perhaps he was in hypomanic phase of bipolar?). He is still

struggeling with bipolar condition. He gets into weekly cycles of depression

for one week (exactly five days) and mild happiness the next week and back

again.

Regards.

Ratan.

RATAN;

I noticed your lengthy credentials at the bottom of

your post. If your son was one of your clients, what

would your treatment plan consist of??? Have you

ever seen his test results and consulted with the

psychologists/psychiatrists who performed these,

using your own extensive knowledge and applying it

to your son's case??

It seems to me that smoking anything would be hard on the lungs. Is there

another way to use marijuana for healing?

Elsy,

The call was for young people who are

not taking ritalin or similar prescriptions

for ADD anymore.

Quite frankly, I think the only reason

marihuana is illegal is because the Mafia

has too much influence in government.

This is an amazing plant with medicinal,

nutritional, and industrial potential.

If it were legal to have a few plants in

your backyard it would be dirt cheap and

not worth marketing illegally.

There would also be no need to make it

as insanely strong as I am told it is these

days.

For the record: I do NOT smoke it.

It makes me want to eat and sleep,

two activities at which I excell without

the slightest help. Yes, I did inhale some

back in the early seventies.

I don't see why it couldn't be tinctured?

But I have never tried, too much hassle.

Sure, you can tincture anything. And get the same benefits as whole herb.

Hi

dont be misguided..

Marijuana is a intoxicant.. It gives temperory pain relief and you will

become addicted and your health will become weak after some time..

Hence it is not encouraged..

Lot of intoxicants are pain relivers..
