This was an old medical practice that has since been discredited. Doctors used to prescribe milk diets. I remember working in a long term care facility and having to bring this very grumpy stomach patient his mug of warm milk every other hour. The milk will indeed coat the stomach and give a brief relief, but then the stomach will produce extra acid in order to digest the milk. It is NOT a good idea. Cabbage juice, yes, chamomile tea, yes, milk, no! Ien in the Kootenays http://freegreenliving.com
Guest guest
I totally agree! Having suffered from GERD from 10 years, I dont go near milk. It increases acidity in my stomach. ALOE VERA JUICE! Trust me, it worked for me Ieneke van Houten <ienvan wrote: Born of Beltane (great name) wrote: my grandmother told me that milk and other dairy used to be used to line the stomach so that ulcers could heal.. very interesting... Guest guest
Maybe they were using RAW milk which has amazing health benefits and not the nasty pasturised homogenised rubbish we get today.I think you would get a similar beneficial result if you used kefir or a cultured milk product. Guest guest
If you take cold milk it will defenitely help in lining the stomach in healing the ulcer. Food must be taken boil type - not oily and spicy. Cabbage juice does not help much in most of the cases. However adequate symtomatic medicine should also be taken to heal the ulcer for good. > " Ieneke van Houten " <ienvan > > > milk for stomach ulcers (was] Re: cabbage >juice) >Sun, 10 Dec 2006 11:47:52 -0800 > >Born of Beltane (great name) wrote: > >my grandmother told me that milk and other >dairy used to be used to line the stomach so >that ulcers could heal.. >very interesting... > >This was an old medical practice that has >since been discredited.
