Guest guest
Hi, I am new to this group. I am an herbalist and mom, grand mom and great grandmom. I keep my family healthy with herbs and such. I have a question for all of you. Does anyone know what to do about sensitive hearing/( noise hurts ears.) I would appreciate any information on this subject. Peace on earth, Thyme

I grew up with one ear being " hypersensitive " and the other " normal " . Oddly enough it was the hypersensitive ear that has given me the most trouble when it comes to allergies. It gets clogged easily (fluids won't drain) and then I feel like a pillow is smashed up against that ear making hearing and balance a pain. Since I grew up dealing with this, and really I only notice it when there is a lot of noise, I never sought anything to " solve " it. It's just something I deal with. Usually in a noisy environment or when it becomes over stimulated my ear will just shut down or go numb/muffled and give me some relief. It's the same with my other senses as well- have you ever of HSP? Highly Sensitive Person. It might be something you should look into as well: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Highly_sensitive_person I bet if one sense tends to be highly sensitive then there are others that are as well. Also- someone may have normal hearing, but what makes it more sensitive, or highly sensitive, is the way that person reacts with that that sense. Guest guest
Hi Cecile, Your family is lucky to have you! Some people are by nature more sensitive to noise than others, but lack of magnesium can make it worse. Most people do not get enough magnesium. Supplementing it is worth a try, no harm done if it doesn't work. In friendship Ien in the Kootenays http://freegreenliving.com
Guest guest
Hi ya; Ien is right. I did some research online as I have both very sensitive ears and at times when on the phone I have to put a cloth over the ear piece and turn the volumn down to it's lowest setting. I can literally feel my ear drum moving as I listen. Some tones are very painful as well. My kids hate that I have great hearing. LOL Any ways...I've upped my calcium/magnesium and it keeps it under control.
