Guest guest
" kp " <kp KaiserPapersNews Group Activity for all patients Sun, 3 Dec 2006 04:39:37 -0500 To All: This coming week, in Florida a meeting is quietly being held that could further negatively affect every family in this country. I am sure that Kaiser has their sticky little fingers in this because there is potentially a lot of money to be made. Kaiser has their fingers in anything that stands to be an enormous money maker. The Hope Hospice of SouthWestern Florida is applying to obtain a funeral home/services provider. It sounds like they want to set up a one stop center for all end of life matters. See: http://www.bonitanews.com/news/2006/nov/15/hope_hospice_plans_offer_funeral_se rvices/?print=1 and http://www.bonitanews.com/news/2006/nov/18/editorial_hospice_services/?opinion For those of us that have seen the reality of Kaiser end of life programs I think that you will agree that there is a serious danger to the patients if this is allowed to happen. Kaiser is not unique in poor to none medical care when it comes to end of life issues, especially when Medicare is doling out the dough without questioning much of anything. Nor is Kaiser unique in deciding without mentioning to the patient or their family that their life is suddenly going to be ended. This type of thing is taking place all over this country today. Medical programs and related facilities must remain separate from mortuary/crematoriums. To allow them to merge would certainly be a diservice to the patient. I am asking that this week everyone please contact Tom Gallagher, Chief Financial Officer for the Department of Financial Services in the State of Florida and Diana Evans, Director of the Division of Funeral, Cemetery and Consumer Services to tell them your concerns regarding their setting a precident for a one stop hospice/morturary center. Tom Gallagher, Chief Financial Officer State of Florida Department of Financial Services Tallahassee, FL 32399-0300 (850) 413-3100 Tom.Gallagher or cfo and Diana Evans, Director Division of Funeral, Cemetery and Consumer Services: Diana.Evans Please everyone email Mr. Gallaher and Ms. Evans and tell them your story. Tell them why they should not allow any medical program or facility to also be running a mortuary and/or crematorium. Please also send this letter out to as many people as possible. Make sure that this entire country has an opportunity to voice their opinions to the State of Florida. We all have to stop this now before it spreads as yet another greedy corporate cancer throughout this country. Thank you all, Sincerely, Vickie
