Guest guest
I felt I should add to this recommendation of St. John's wort....you shouldn't take it if you are on anti depressants. I don't have any more detail than that, but it is easy to look up online like in the drug interactions at www.drugstore.com I also wanted to comment on what you said about anger. I went to my Dr years before I was diagnosed with hypothyroid/hashimotos....with that very complaint! I was unreasonably angry most of the time. She put me on antidepressants which helped to an extent...but years later when i was finally diagnosed and was put on the right medications,i was incredibly relieved of the "anger"...and weight gain to boot! I lost 40 pounds! Karly
Guest guest
St. John's wort isn't that great for deression. What do you eat? Are you active? There are lots of things that can contribute to depression. Becky

Guest guest
Sounds like you're not happy with your life. I'm afraid no remedy is going to help you with that. Sounds like you need to have a goooood look at your life, and re-organise it somewhat so that you can be happier. Work out what you would like to achieve in your life, then look at where you are now, and work out how you are going to get from here to there. Can take a lot of courage, but it will be worth it in the end :-) love, Lisa - hotmail herbal remedies Thursday, September 04, 2003 11:28 PM Re: [herbal remedies] mood swings Hi, my life is not good I have arthritis in all my joints and fibromyalgia in all my muscles, I get about ok but cant work, I go to the gym but have to watch what im doing because if I over do it im off my feet for a day or two, because of this im over weight (5f 2in and 14 st) which gets me down ive tried to diet but to no avail. Guest guest
Hello, I need help for mood swings. I am under a lot of stress from work (overwork, financial problems, health). Guest guest
I would suggest a couple of things that my doctors suggested (other than medication - which I eventually had to accept the fact was a necessity because of my multiple medical conditions..) 1. Take a few minutes to get outside or get away - take a break at the work place. Close your eyes. Breathe ...Not just in and out quickly... but breathe all of the negative energy out. As you breathe in - take it in slowly and focus on something that you find pleasing or relaxing. 2. Take a 5 minute stretch break. Bend over touch your toes. Slowly rise. Touch your knees. Then your shoulders. Then straight up. Breathe in and out slowly as you do this. Hope these two simple things help. Also, regardless of what religion... Pray. Prayer is a magical cure for so many of our stresses. Grace and Peace. Best wishes. Sincerely, Olivia lombardiasi <lombardiasi wrote: Hello, I need help for mood swings. Guest guest
, " lombardiasi " < Dear Lombardasi, It is usually helpful if you can speak directly to someone in your area. However, Mood swings can always be mitigated to some degree through Daily exercise, helping others, Meditation, and herbs. Also sometimes Massage and Chiropractic (network and others) can help. I'll enclose the meditation I usually work with when doing energy work on individuals requesting it. Feelfree to use it if you are so inclined. It is designed with a specific intent and focus for clearing and healing work, and it helps balance as does most Meditation. Encl: Meditation 101 for Healing and Clearing work Meditation for Clearing and Healing 101 level amended Nov'06 Ok to distribute, just credit the source gandolph_4u The meditation needs to be from within you. So start with, find in your mind, a time and place to relax uninterrupted. Sit, back straight, and focus on your breathing, Deep and slow, consistent breaths, Inhale to a count of 4 1,2,3,4 Good, Now hold for a count of 4. 1,2,3,4, Ok now exhale slowly for account of 4. 1,2,3,4, Count EVENLY! Now hold for a count of 4. 1,2,3,4. Now back to inhale. One circle of breaths -inhale –hold- exhale- hold- is one cycle. Do this for a cycle of 13 times total of 4 steps x13 cycles. Focus on your breath. This will get you calmer and help remove clutter from your mind. Go longer over time up to 21 cycles. Now, in your mind go back to where you felt love and bliss. Perhaps it is a sexual encounter that was magnificent or even just one you've imagined about. This energy is in the " center " of the wheel of healing and living and is very powerful! Go to that place and time. Re-live it. Feel all the feelings, WOW bring them closer, brighter, louder, FULL Color! Keep it intense. Now remove the other person from the situation. But Keep ALL the Feelings! Keep it strong! Now remove All physical presence, remove all of your stimulated body parts, but KEEP The Energy and the feeling. Keep going. YES! Keep it up. Put yourself into an imaginary protective loving capsule. It is 3 feet out from you in every direction. Kind of like a God Given Force Field that holds your luminescent energy and health patterns as well. Fill it with this energy. Run a Light/Love filtering hoola hoop up and down you as you breathe. Focus on the loving feeling and on breathing. Run the hoop up to inhale and down to exhale. DEEP BREATHS!! Now move the hoop faster, and with each pass it removes dark, sluggish, and cloudy things. It removes dead tissue and bad thought-forms. Now Faster again. keep going faster, keep the feelings high. Go DEEP and just short of hyperventilating, if you over do it, start again. Oxygen is never your enemy always your friend. Know the hoola hoop is clearing detrimental energies of various sorts. Keep up the feelings of Love and Bliss. Sort them at you center, then fill the luminescent cocoon, then fill the room, then fill the house. Make sure each is totally full of love, light and bliss before moving on. I'd love to hear how you are doing after a week of practice. Now, a variation . . . Part 2 to complete the healing circle keep the same energy, love someone close, easy for you to love. Beginning to Advanced Meditation Instruction For accelerating personal growth, awakening to higher levels, mastering life. Meditation is the training of attention so as to cause specific highly beneficial effects in oneself and one's life. Proper meditation leads to personal liberation from suffering, mastery of life and circumstances, superconsciousness, the awakening of higher abilities of consciousness, and direct access to unlimited happiness within. An effective path of meditation is composed of several subpaths: 1. The Path of Virtue Cultivation (Character Balancing and Building) 2. The Path of Absorption (Concentration/Samatha/Samadhi) 3. The Path of Insight (Realization/Understanding/Vipassana) 4. The Path of Energy Mastery (Cultivation of Vitality and Energies of Consciousness) 5. The Path of Reality Creation (Adjusting Karma, White Magic) Individualized Meditation Instruction Learn to meditate in the way that is uniquely right for you. No one technique will work for everybody. When you have the right meditation practice that suites your individual nature and current range of consciousness then meditation is relatively easy, effective and highly rewarding. Initial Instruction includes: 1. Initial Interview - determining what types of practices are uniquely right for you. 2. Initial Instruction Session - teaching and guiding you in these practices so that you can do them independently. 3. Follow-Up Instruction Session - answering any questions and refining your practice. Continuing Instruction Sessions once every two weeks is ideal for the most rapid progress or are then available as you need or want them. An hour session every two weeks is a standard training route to higher and higher levels of: skill, consciousness, joy/bliss/inner satisfaction, enlightened liberation, and supernormal abilities. The requirement for the Meditation Instruction is: the commitment to meditate at least 1 or preferably 2 hours per day. A Higher-Vision Assessment and Spiritual Energetic-Healing session is recommended in order to eliminate obstacles, but not required. Guest guest
Hello Friend, I had gone through your mail. First of all take a holiday for a day. See that you are alone in the room and no one disturbs you. Morning start with meditation and do yoga Padmasan for atleast half an hour. Once you are cool down set your priorities. Please dont involve anyone while taking decision. 1. First comes your health. Check where you have gone wrong. If you are not taking proper diet, see that you have a proper diet and take medicine on time. If you are not taking proper medicine go for alternative medicines. This group friends will help you out. Let us know what kind of illness you have. Since Health is wealth, you second priority will be Financial Problems. 2. Regarding Financial problems, that you need to sort out your Income and expenditure. If you are putting money in unwanted commodities like cigar, drinks then cut down. See where your major income outflow. 3. Overwork - if you are working in some organinsation which you dont like, resign only after you get a suitable job. If you have lots of work then distribute time accordingly setting priorities. See that you finish of your work by 8 hrs. DONT SIT LATE as it will increase your stress and create health problems. 4. If you feel like crying, Please cry it will give you good relief and helps you to think what will be next. Manoj lombardiasi <lombardiasi wrote: Hello, I need help for mood swings. Guest guest
Hi! The one thing that can definitely help is to lessen the stress, even if it means changing jobs. My husband has bipolar disorder and that really means mood swings and is caused by a chemical imbalance. You may want to talk with a psychiatrist or at least a counselor to determine if this may be a cause of your situation. If it is not a physiological disorder, then it is psychological and you are the only one who can fix it. Meds help my husband but it doesn't cure the problem. If you can reduce or eliminate you stree without being medicated, that is to your advantage. Stress can destroy your body so please take care of it. Guest guest
I have had excellent results with EFT (Emotional Freedom Technique) for my mood swings. After a while it becomes permanent and you wont' even get them. It's free too which is nice! Get your manual at www.emofree.com. For a quick fix, try Rescue Remedy spray or a homeopathic stress remedy from the health food store (can't give advice on brand since all the stuff I have, I brought from Germany and isn't available here in North America) Sharon , " lombardiasi " <lombardiasi wrote: > > Hello, > I need help for mood swings. The one thing that can definitely help is to lessen the stress, even if it means changing jobs. My husband has bipolar disorder and that really means mood swings and is caused by a chemical imbalance. If it is not a physiological disorder, then it is psychological and you are the only one who can fix it. Meds help my husband but it doesn't cure the problem. Guest guest
--- Massage, learning to rub people the right way One of the first things we will look at and give the merits for is massage, known and applied for thousands of years .In todays society at least in the UK touch is almost alien through whatever reason be it Victorian or upbringing .Yet touch can convey so much and the UK in general has to learn this very important role. For in my experience touch can be life changing ,yet I still meet nurses who have never had a massage in their life. Clearly there is much to change for these people are supposed to be at the very front to treating the ill but as the previous chapter has explained modern conventional treatment has almost obliterated one of the prime tools for healing. Massage should be done to babies, children and adults and much soothing would take place were this in place without need for drugs, sedatives alcohol or other stimulants. if only this would go into every would be mums repertoire of dealing with their children. The results I am sure would be impressive. Various combinations of oils for massage can be used however I have only experience with using the oils of peanut /olive and almond and I am sure there are many others which are of real benefit too. Also very good results have been obtained using tincture of myrrh. Research in massage therapy has been ongoing for more than 120 years. Here are some reported benefits of massage: Preliminary results suggested cancer patients had less pain and anxiety after receiving therapeutic massage at the James Cancer Hospital and Research Institute in Columbus, Ohio. Women who had experienced the recent death of a child were less depressed after receiving therapeutic massage, according to preliminary results of a study at the University of South Carolina. Medical school students at the University of Medicine and Dentistry of New Jersey-New Jersey Medical School who were massaged before an exam showed a significant decrease in anxiety and respiratory rates as well as a significant increase in white blood cells and natural killer cell activity, suggesting a benefit to the immune system Studies funded by the National Institutes of Health (NIH) have found massage beneficial in improving weight gain in HIV-exposed infants and facilitating recovery in patients who underwent abdominal surgery. At the University of Miami School of Medicine's Touch Research Institute, researchers have found that massage is helpful in decreasing blood pressure in people with hypertension, alleviating pain in migraine sufferers and improving alertness and performance in office workers. An increasing number of research studies show massage reduces heart rate, lowers blood pressure, increases blood circulation and lymph flow, relaxes muscles, improves range of motion, and increases endorphins (enhancing medical treatment). Although therapeutic massage does not increase muscle strength, it can stimulate weak, inactive muscles and, thus, partially compensate for the lack of exercise and inactivity resulting from illness or injury. It also can hasten and lead to a more complete recovery from exercise or injury. Research has verified that: Office workers massaged regularly were more alert, performed better and were less stressed than those who weren't massaged. Massage therapy decreased the effects of anxiety, tension, depression, pain, and itching in burn patients. Abdominal surgery patients recovered more quickly after massage. Premature infants who were massaged gained more weight and fared better than those who weren't. Autistic children showed less erratic behaviour after massage therapy. According AMTA, massage helps both physically and mentally. " Often times people are stressed in our culture. Stress-related disorders make up between 80-and-90 percent of the ailments that bring people to family-practice physicians. What they require is someone to listen, someone to touch them, someone to care. That does not exist in modern medicine. One of the complaints heard frequently is that physicians don't touch their patients any more. Touch just isn't there. Years ago massage was a big part of nursing. There was so much care, so much touch, so much goodness conveyed through massage. Now nurses for the most part are as busy as physicians. They're writing charts, dealing with insurance notes, they're doing procedures and often there is no room for massage any more. I believe massage therapy is absolutely key in the healing process not only in the hospital environment but because it relieves stress, it is obviously foundational in the healing process any time and anywhere. " Joan Borysenko - Massage Journal Interview, Fall 1999 Physical Benefits of Therapeutic Massage Massage also provides another therapeutic component largely absent in today's world: tactile stimulation, or, more simply, touch. In 1986, the Touch Research Institute at the University of Miami published groundbreaking research on the effects of massage on premature babies. The preterm babies who received massage therapy showed 47% greater weight gain and six-day shorter hospital stays than the infants who were not receiving massage. But is this study evidence of what loving touch can do spiritually, or rather what massage can do on a physiological level? Regardless, babies are not the only benefactors Helps relieve stress and aids relaxation Helps relieve muscle tension and stiffness. Alleviates discomfort during pregnancy Fosters faster healing of strained muscles and sprained ligaments; reduces pain and swelling; reduces formation of excessive scar tissue Reduces muscle spasms. Provides greater joint flexibility and range of motion Enhances athletic performance; Treats injuries caused during sport or work Promotes deeper and easier breathing Improves circulation of blood and movement of lymph fluids Reduces blood pressure Helps relieve tension-related headaches and effects of eye-strain Enhances the health and nourishment of skin Improves posture Strengthens the immune system Treats musculoskeletal problems Rehabilitation post operative Rehabilitation after injury (Source: AMTA Mental Benefits of Massage Therapy Fosters peace of mind Promotes a relaxed state of mental alertness Helps relieve mental stress. Improves ability to monitor stress signals and respond appropriately. Enhances capacity for calm thinking and creativity. Emotional Benefits. Satisfies needs for caring nurturing touch Fosters a feeling of well- being Reduces levels of anxiety. Creates body awareness. Increases awareness of mind-body connection Here is a nice story Hi all, I just wanted to share something with you that some of the students in my therapeutic massage class are working on this semester. Part of our curriculum is clinical hands on hours. Most of us are conducting an on-campus massage clinic. We have 2 small groups of students who are working off-campus at the hospital (chair massages on nurses and hospital staff only), and at the adjacent cancer treatment center (hand and foot massages on patients, and chair massages for care givers and center staff). As a part of the quantitative study of how well the massage work is going, they are tracking the patient vital signs both before and after each massage. The results are absolutely amazing so far! They worked with 11 patients this week, and EVERYONE experienced positive results. From all the stress of the treatments blood pressure, heart rate, and respiration levels are elevated in cancer patients. After the massages most of the patients had returned to almost normal ranges. My fellow students got a chance to witness first hand exactly how powerful our gift of touch is, and how much of a difference such a simple gesture can make in someone's life - not just by making them aware that someone cares for them, but also by improving their health. With this data to track, it also gives us a small step toward making the profession of therapeutic massage that more legitimate. You wouldn't believe how much more receptive of all of us students the staff at both the hospital and the cancer center are. Makes me kind of proud to be a part of it all. Do copy this and share it phil In , " lombardiasi " <lombardiasi wrote: > > Hello, > I need help for mood swings. I am under a lot of stress from work > (overwork, financial problems, health). Guest guest
Hi Lombardiasi, My Family has genetic problems with depression which go back many years. I personally have been fighting depression since the early 80's. My Brother had suffered from Bi-Polar aka Manic Depression for many years, so he decided to study the causes that made him sick. In his case, the main reason was a Sugar imbalance which caused his Mood Swings. After he radically changed his diet, got counseling and left a stressful career field, his symptoms all but disappeared ......At least about 95%. Occasionally he has a bout with depression, but very rarely since 1989, and not nearly as bad, nor has he had a manic phase since then. Anyway, he wrote a book about it which is real good. He also went back to college and got a Masters in Counseling, and now he Counsels others who have problems with Depression & Bi-Polar Disorders. You can find his Book at his Site, http://www.healandgrow.org <http://www.healandgrow.org/> . It's called " Overcoming Depression and manic Depression, a Whole Person Approach. It's very down to earth and holistically written. His name is Paul Wider and the Book's ISBN is 0-9649151-7-0. Getting extra light helps in Winter, Exercise helps a lot, Having a " Support System " is important, counseling, and good Nutrition is critical, also. Here are some sites which have a list of supplements that help: http://www.umm.edu/altmed/ConsLookups/Uses/depression.html <http://www.umm.edu/altmed/ConsLookups/Uses/depression.html> http://www.healthyplace.com/Communities/Depression/treatment/alternative\ /dietary_supplements.asp <http://www.healthyplace.com/Communities/Depression/treatment/alternativ\ e/dietary_supplements.asp> http://www.raysahelian.com/depression.html <http://www.raysahelian.com/depression.html> Do a Google search for Depression Aids, Holistic Healing for depression, Alternative depression cures, etc., and you can find a lot more on the Internet. Good luck and I hope these things help you! Oh, I'm trying a product called Amoryn myself, but I'm not certain how good it is yet. L-Tryptofan also is good for depression. Guest guest
Lombardiasi, I have been using a mood support supplement that keeps me feeling more positive more often. I too deal with depression and have found that my mood has been better since the 2nd or 3rd week on this supplement. It's not too expensive either, it's less than a $1 a day, which to me is very cheap when I know I am feeling better emotionally. Email me directly for information.
