Guest guest Posted December 3, 2006 Report Share Posted December 3, 2006 Yoga helps the body relax and stretch, it can help get your natural clock (digestion and imune system) back in order, but as far as weight it's not something I'd recommend. I've taken Yoga as long as I have danced, which has been about 16 years, and to be honest Yoga has no exercises that actually burn fat. You need to get youh heart pumping to do that. If you're on a good oga routine, chances are you'd be fit enough to add walking to that too. I know of some places that offer Yoga also offer pilates. (I'm not sure how to spell that...) When we are in harmony we have healthier responses so we are not as likely to overeat. So your yoga may help you to lose weight even if it isn't a calorie burning workout. Yoga may also gently stimulate the thyroid gland and it improves muscle tone. Happy stretching and meditating! I think for them it's more on the psychological level, but with kundalini you do a lot that works on the glands and nervous system so that helps too. I know after my first class I didn't feel the " need " to turn on radio when I drove home so I think that it makes our " needs " seem less urgent which can have a good result on eating.
