Guest guest
Hi, my father just had a heart attack sunday, and he has high blood pressure. In his family, the men die at age fifty of heart attacks, pretty much consistantly. Well, modern medicine has B " H become more advanced and they saved his life - B " H it was just a small artery that was clogged, and it was heredity more than anything we think. He does not eat very healthy, but we are slowly making him go that route. This heart attack really scared him into wanting to eat better and whatnot. He's more open to herbal remedies. He's on Lipitor right now (oy!) just for short term until his blood pressure regulates out a little bit better. Are there any herbs that help the heart and/or blood pressure? Not to mention, just a really good overall tonic? He has chronic pain in his leg from a benign tumor in his siatic nerve, mushed/grown into the nerve, caused by a horse falling on him in the mountains five years ago. His nerve has been agrivated by the angiogram (i THINK thats what its called!!) that they gave him, and we would appreciate any herbs that are good for pain/shrink tumors. I am really new to this herb stuff, as a midiwfery student I learn mostly about red rasperry leaf, vitex, things like that. But when it comes to other things - I need some help!!! I appreciate any info! thanks so much kylie (ps this counts as my intro i guess! )

Guest guest
The root cause of high blood pressure is caused by a difficiency of one or more of these things: coenzyme Q10, magnesium, L-arginine, potassium. It can be corrected in a period of 6 to 8 weeks or less in many people. This also improves circulation a great deal and is used in treatment for congestive heart failure. Do not stop you current medication if you are taking any. Start taking 120 mg or more of coenzyme a day, 500 milagrams of magnesium, 3 to 6 thousand mg of L-arginine (3 to 6 pills a day, spaced into 2 or 3 doses per day), eat a banana a couple of times a week. Monitor your blood pressure every day and adjust your current medications downward as you blood pressure improves. This treatment will reduce blood pressure but will not lower it below a normal rate but the bp medicine you are taking might if you do not adjust it downward as you improve. A very short explanation: Blood pressure is controlled by the release of nitric oxide into the blood by cells that line the inside of the vessles called ephethial cells. L-arginine is a precusor or nitric oxide and is used by the cells to create the nitric oxide. It's release causes the vessles to increase in diameter and allow easier passage of blood similar to attaching a larger garden hose to a spigot, the bigger the diameter the lower the pressure and the higher the flow. If the cells are impaired in releasing the nitric oxide and the vessles remain small and loose their adjusting abilities, high blood pressure is the result. Vessles are constantly adjusting size in a normal person. Magnesium, coenzyme Q10 and potassium are also needed for the normal function of these cells, if there is a deficency of any of these you will have high blood pressure. Coenzyme q10 can sometimes do the trick all by itself but it would be the most effective if you take all of them until you have everything under control. There are numerous double blind studies with hundreds of people that support what is being said here. Please do your own research and draw you own conclusions as well. a few: http://www.medscape.com/viewarticle/421432_print http://www.ffnmag.com/ASP/articleDisplay.asp?strArticleId=617 As for the tumors... have him take 1 tablespoon of flax oil ( use the raw oil, not the seeds, seeds release no oil unless ground) mixed with 2 tablespoons of cottage cheese, 2 to 4 times a day. Mix the oil and cottage cheese together and use it right away and store the remainder of the oil in the refrigerator because it ruins very quickly. You can also use buttermilk or yogurt instead of the cottage cheese but you need to use 4 tablespoons instead of the 2 of cottage cheese. The reason you have to use the cottage cheese or yogurt is that the oil is not absorbed by some people and the cottage cheese make it absorbable. When you combine the oil with a sulphated protein such as yogurt it will completely disappear into the yogurt as you stir it up, if it does not disappear you need to add more yogurt or cottage cheese or whatever you are using. I usually drink it mixed in a glass of buttermilk. You should begin to see a reduction of the tumor within 2 to 3 weeks. Guest guest
I have been taking Biospec's Cholesterol Complete formula for about a month now...results have been spectacular so far. I could not tolerate statin drugs, but this supplement contains red yeast rice extract, guggulipid extract, tocotrienol complex, policosanol complex, and many more natural ingredients. I have had no ill side effects so far. I formerly took 10 mg. of Norvasc for my blood pressure, which didn't bring it down to what it is now...Over a week ago, I gave up the Norvasc altogether. I have read that calcium channel blockers can cause cancer! I have not had my lipids rechecked yet, however I know several other people whose cholesterol has been significantly lowered by this supplement. Without the side effects of the statin drugs...Their doctor thought the Lipitor was doing a great job, LOL! In addition to this, I have begun to exercise, and eat a healthier diet. Ice cream is my addiction... Hope this helps.

Guest guest
Kylie asked: Are there any herbs that help the heart and/or blood pressure? Not to mention, just a really good overall tonic? Kylie, someone already mentioned garlic. Another excellent safe heart herb is Hawthorne. Then there is Cayenne, which helps any other herb to go where it needs to. All three of these and a few more are combined in the excellent Strauss Heart Drops. Visit the website and read the testimonials. Hurry, before Big Brother decides that they pose too much of a danger to the sales of Lipitor and takes it off the market. http://Straussheartdrops.com Ien in the Kootenays, who has no interest in this one but who did hug Jim Strauss once. http://freegreenliving.com

Guest guest
Cayenne can be taken in any form, capsule, tincture, tea, etc. It IS better if you taste herbs becuase the taste signals the liver to " look out, here it comes " type of thing. However, with cayenne, the hotter the better and many people can not handle the heat. Just remember that cayenne not only is hot going in and also hot coming out. Cayenne will heal on it's way through the body. Cayenne will also get the heart pumping and has been know to stop an heart attack. Since that is already a heart problem, I would sugget taking hawthorn berry with the cayenne. As far as a recipe, you need to find what works for you. Start with something like 10 parts hawthorn and 1 part cayenne. If that's too hot or not hot enough, just adjust the recipe. I can make up capulses or tinctures for you if you like. Just let me know. Guest guest
Be careful with Cayenne!!! Some people have a SEVERE reaction to even MINUTE amounts of this stuff..... My fiance and I experienced light-headedness and dizziness after putting just a small amount of this (we had never used it before) in a soup for flavoring. After some research we discovered that some people just can't tolerate Cayenne. So PLEASE......be careful with that stuff. Guest guest
One thing I need to clarify after re-reading my post.... Treatment with these produces a gradual lowering of blood pressure as the deficency is replaced and the cells lining the vessles are returned to their normal function. This is not like taking a blood pressure medicine that only treats the symtoms by forcing the blood pressure down without actually fixing the underlying problem. The return of normal blood pressure happens very gradually. It could take several months in some people and less in others, all according how advanced the problem is. You need to monitor your BP on a regular basis and reduce you prescription medicines acording to the improvement and get off of them gradually, do not do it all at once. This problem did not happen all at once but rather happened to you gradually, it cannot be repaired overnight. The benifit of using this treatment rather that the prescription medicines is that it has no side effects and can actually help fix other problems with circulation. L-arginine helps prevent platelet aggrigation (blood clots that can cause a stroke) and is recommended as being safer and more effective than taking aspirin because it does not thin the blood like aspirin does. Thinning the blood can be dangerous and raise the risk of a fatal internal hemorage in the brain. All of the things mentioned are already in food and your body is used to seeing them but many of the perscription medicines are totally foreign to the body becuase they are not natural substances and were created in a lab. People using prescription BP medications usually experience a feeling of tiredness and fatigue and urinate very often. Thatis the reason most people want to get off of them if they can. The perscription BP medication is not fixing the real problem, it is only treating the symtoms of the underlying problem. I appreciate any info! thanks so much kylie (ps this counts as my intro i guess! ) Send free SMS to your Friends on Mobile from your Messenger. Correct asims. Excellent post, you know your stuff! I control my BP with L-Arginine: Alpha-Ketoglutarate - AAKG (Please ensure Alpha-K) in conjunction with Jiaogulan. Two teas AAKG powder and 1/2 teas J, mixed in a little warm water, drink down. Nothing unpleasant about it. Take before food, allow about half before or couple of hours after. In addition can also take L-Lysine - which I do. The 'J' herb bolsters the E-NOS/oxygen pathways of the AAKG - more efficacious. Not only has/is my BP controlled, from a 197/100, but also it is an anti-inflammatory, I have severe arthritis, DJD and and DDD - cervicals. (Great, not!) Additional information. nitric oxide synthase Definition and Much More from Answers.com http://www.answers.com/topic/nitric-oxide-synthase http://www.drugs.com/npp/jiaogulan.html Am practically OFF all meds - NO NSAIDS (will ruin the stomache and the gut wall leading to untold problems, Keep away from em.) As for the Statins, refused to take em, end of story. The AAKG + Jiaogulan with L-Lysine, CoQ10, Magnesium has been my answer (have not used the potassium: will look at it). I have NO side effects to the herbs, at all, whereas to and with the NSAIDS etc, slow poison! Hope this is helpful.
