When there is a shortage of acidophilus in you body you will develop a

yeast infection because acidophilus balances the yeast and keeps it

from overgrowing. You need both, but in the right amounts for each.

Yeast infections are very common when taking antibotics. The

acidophilus bacteria is killed by the antibiotics but the yeast is

not, so an imbalence is created allowing the yeast to grow out of control.

Menstration can also cause this to happen because the vagina is

normally pretty acidic, when PH levels drop it can allow the yeast to

grow out of control.

To keep this from happening start taking acidophilus (pills, get them

at Walmart or health food store). Eating yogurt also helps to replace

some of the lost acidophilus. It is advisable to also follow this at

any time you get a yeast infection for any other reason. It works

better than the creams you buy at the drug store. Start taking it at

the very first sign of trouble. If you are prone to get yeast

infections you probably need to take it all along. You can also buy

milk what has acidophilus in it.

In case you do not know the symtoms of a yeast infection:

The signs and symptons of a yeast infection include itching and

redness around the outer vagina , soreness, rash, and/or burning

especially while urinating. Also, a cottage-cheese like discharge may

be present.

You can also get the same thing in your mouth, it is called thrush. A

man can get it on the penis as well.
