Guest guest
few yrs back I went and got me some clove oil , walgreens has it. it's in a toothache kit. I soaked a tiny cotton ball in the stuff and applied it to the tooth, the only thing is you cannot swallow this stuff as it draws your breath away, keep spitting till you feel no pain. it worked for me , till I had enuff $$$ to see a dentist and have it pulled. REMEMBER DON " T SWALLOW IT. it kills the nerve endings on the tooth. Jina God is so big He can cover the whole world with his Love and so small He can curl up inside your heart. Guest guest
As others have indicated earlier, clove oil is a very potent remedy for the temporary relief of toothache. Apply it directly to the area that hurts as well as around it with a cotton swab. Toothache pain is often displaced, making it seem like it is coming from somewhere else. Only a few (1-2) drops of clove oil are needed. It may burn. That's normal as it deadens nerve endings' ability to communicate sensation. The burning lasts for less than a minute and is not as bad as the toothache. Waning!!! Using clove oil several times a day for months will cause permanent nerve damage. So if the pain lasts longer than a week (two tops), see a dentist. Delays may result in bigger expense. If cost is a problem, there are helpful hints above or you can seek out a decent dentist who is willing to work out a payment plan with you. In some cases cinnamon oil ma also be helpful. I have not found the decoction (tea) of clove to be as potent, and it also may have numbing effect on the surrounding area and the tongue which may not be very beneficial. I.e., it's extremely easy to have improper bite causing injury to the tongue when most of the mouth is numbed away. The advise about properly filtering the tea of floating pieces so they do not get lodged between your teeth. I am not convinced of the painkilling effects of baking soda unless it relates to nutralizing the acidous fluids around damaged enamel. It is good as mild antiseptic and due to its abresive properties for whitening the surface of the teeth - though one should not overdo it. Please let us know how things work out. Cheers and (toothache-free) Happy New Year!

Guest guest
Then how would you classify it. In our house I am teaching our children that no matter what god or goddess you believe in is right, we believe in any and all. I always clump Buddha into that group, I better do some reading. Guest guest
Recommendation: Would it be possible to open a separate topic on God? Please pardon a newbie's presumtions, but I strongly feel that He/She/It definitely deserves not to be mixed up in a conversation on aching teeth. I would love to hear your various opinions - maybe I can insert mine as well. But this conversation does not appear to belong to the " Help toothache " topic. .... ><aasakuweer wrote: Definetly not. > > Kathleen Ramsey <kathy wrote: Isn't Buddha considered a god? > >Weerakkody > Gina, > How nice if you keep religion out of this. > Because every body does not believe in your God! > Sri Lanka, Part of India, Burma, Tailand, Laos, Cambodia, Vietnam, China, > Tibet, Mongolia, Taiwan, Hong Kong, South Korea and Japan are predominently > Buddhist Countrys. Guest guest
If you have an abscess you need to seek medical attention. It can be very dangerous. A Homeopath or Naturopath can help with other options. Clove oil, go to a drug store they have generic kits with this oil. I had the same problem and choose to have it removed instead of root canal. It had a mercury filling and was abscessed. Guest guest
I am sure God is called on much more frequently during a severe toothache than under less stressful circumstances. Also, where all else fails,... Btw: While Buddhism in general rejects the concept we in the west refer to as God, there are branches of Buddhism (of the Mahayana tradition), in which there is a similar concept. The great Vairocana Buddha and the Samantabhadra Buddha are considered God. Also: " I am the god above the gods, superior to all the gods; no god is like me - how could there be a higher? " (Lalitavistara Sutra). Mind you, this Buddhist " God " , is not quite the same as the God of most other religions. As I recommended, we can continue this in another topic. <kathy wrote: > > I would not be so sure of that. Guest guest
On the subject of clove tea that I recommended please do not drink it. I just meant to hold it over the tooth and spit it out. I assumed that would be done but I should not assume. Hope you did not swallow it. Peace, Thyme
Guest guest
" Root canals are only good for 5 years or less. " Is not a true statement. I've had several over the course of about 30 years. Once you've had one you never have to get it redone. A root canal kills the nerve in your tooth. It does not grow back. Crowns sometimes have to be redone, but the ones I had done by reputable dentists have lasted me well over 10 years w/o a problem (I've had to have crowns replaced, but the original ones were all by the same dentist and he didn't put them on right! Buyer beware!). Yes, dental work is expensive, but you must be in a ton of pain if you need a root canal! Is there anyone who could help finance this dental work? Does your work offer dental insurance? If yes, go to a really good (reputable) dentist and make sure the root canal and crown are done right. Good luck! , " Mary Bagley Hughes " <tiredgirl50 wrote: > > If it was a back tooth, I'd have it pulled instead. Root canals are > only good for 5 years or less. Guest guest
Yes and no about the root canal thing.. if it is done properly then it doesn't have to be done again. And it is not always done properly. I have had to go back with to the dentist because of root canals that werent done the right way the first time. - Karen Wednesday, January 03, 2007 12:20 AM Re: Help toothache " Root canals are only good for 5 years or less.
