Guest guest
Hi everyone, I'm new here. I have severe sciatica from a back sugery I had about four years ago, lots of scar tissue pressing on sciatic nerve and doctors don't want to go back in and remove it. This causes severe and constant pain in my lower back and left leg along with numbness. I'm really tired of painkillers, (they don't do much anymore anyway, unless I take alot) so if anyone knows of anything that will help ease the pain, please let me know. Thanks so much, Michelle
Guest guest
Michelle, The practice of Tai Chi may slowly but surely loosen the scar tissue. Scar tissue is like over cooked spaghetti all sticky and not very flexible. If you can separate these fibers, you will find your flexibility returning. Also, there are some stretching exercises you can do. Can you place on foot on a chair? Or, would that be too painful? Guest guest
Dear Michelle, My husband shares your dilemma and it is miserable, to say the least! There must be a good reason for the docs to not want to go back in to remove the build up of scar tissue. The body tends to build up a tolerance to painkillers after awhile and traditionally doctors will up the dose rather than seek other ways for the patient to cope. This seems to me, the dead end for sufferers. What we have found to help is a program of stretching excersizes/yoga, meditation and deep relaxation techniques, which, when applied properly, helps the brain to increase it's endorphins production, thereby reducing it's perception of pain. The physical therapy excersizes help with circulation and keeping the areas affected more limber and pliable so that the scar tissues have less influence on the spine. This needs to be monitored by a qualified Physical Therapist who understands your condition and applied properly so as to not cause further damage or injury to the area that had surgery. Slow movements are best. Tai Chi is another form of effective movement as it encompasses all of the elements I've stated here and is another option if you are able to get around pretty well. You can find sources and classes that teach Tai Chi online; just google. You may find this more affordable than seeing a Physical Therapist on a regular basis. If you have medical insurance, though, I suggest you get a referral from your surgeon to a PT and see how that goes...you can always add Tai Chi, but it may take longer to ease any pain you feel. It is so difficult to find the patience when looking for the solutions, but when you feel you're taking charge, that also helps to ease your pain. Best wishes to you-I hope you find the right combination that will help you reduce or eliminate the need for narcotics. Powitree NM Michelle <babydollmem wrote: Hi everyone, I'm new here. Thanks so much, Michelle > Hey Michelle, The best and probably cheapest thing is to go get a massage. I am a Massage Therapist , and I have discovered that most of my clients that come to me for back pain and sciatica have noticed a great improvement in the way they feel, and the reduction of scar tissue. So try it, and if you see the improvement, well, there you go. Probably get 1 hour 2x a week.Let me know where you are and if it helped. Guest guest
-Try rolling a golf ball or baseball with the heel of the foot on the afflicted side of the body. Brace up against wall, start with light pressure and build up. Do this 3x a day. Please give feedback.-- In , " Dolores Arste " <darste3 wrote: > > Michelle, > The practice of Tai Chi may slowly but surely loosen the scar tissue. Thanks so much, Michelle > Hello Michelle, Here is an e-book that you may be interested in viewing. This book is written about daily exercises and techniques that when incorporated into your daily lifestyle can ease sciatica pain. This e-book has already helped many people with back and leg pains that come from sciatic nerve pain. Best of all the author isn't promoting more drugs or surgery, just alternative remedies that work! Hopefully these methods will ease your back pain. The e-book title and address is: Stop Sciatica Now! http://strmbank.sciaticabk.hop.clickbank.net (if link is not active copy and paste full address into address bar) I hope you find this information very useful. Guest guest
Michelle, Find someone in your area that does light therapy per Dinshah Ghadiali. The work can be referenced at www.dinshahhealth.org. He was a child genius that moved from India to the USA and developed his healing system. Quite impressive. Reference the book Let There Be Light, written by his son Darius.. See page 88 and refernce #217. Worth a try. Guest guest
Do you eat the garlic or mince it first before you add the water? Guest guest
I had a friend who was from Romania who lived with me for a year. She was wonderful but she'd eat garlic like apples every day a couple times a day and as I posted before I REALLY don't like garlic so I had to burn candles all day long...lol:O) I wish I liked it because I know how healthy it is for you in many ways. I do cook with it but that is about it. I was wondering about Garlic pills...if I that would be the same as eating garlic. Anyone know?
