Good Morning!

Natural Remedies for Athlete's Foot

Athlete's Foot is a fungal infection of the skin, related to jock

itch and ringworm. It thrives in moist, warm, dark places. This

contagious fungal infection is most common between the toes and soles

of the feet. This fungus thrives in warm, moist areas where there is

little light and air. The skin becomes itchy, flaky, burns,

irritated, and inflamed due to the dead skin cells that accumulate

between the toes and sustain the fungus. Keeping your feet clean and

dry is the most important thing.

The best treatment is to expose your feet to fresh air and sunlight.

Keep them clean and dry. Natural materials such as cotton and leather

create the best environment for feet, while rubber and even wool may

induce sweating and hold moisture. Whenever possible, such as during

the summer, wear airy shoes such as sandals. Change your socks three

or four times a day. And wear only clean cotton socks, not those made

with synthetic yarns. Be sure to rinse the socks thoroughly during

laundering, because detergent residue can aggravate your skin

problem. This helps kill fungus spores. Wash your socks twice in

extra-hot water. Powder your toes. To further keep your feet dry,

allow them to air-dry for 5 or 10 minutes after a shower.

An unchecked fungal infection can lead to cracks in the skin and

invite a nasty bacterial infection. Consult your physician if:

*The inflammation proves incapacitating.

*Swelling occurs in the foot or the leg at any time during the

attack, and you develop a fever.

*Pus appears in the blisters or the cracked skin.

If you are prone to frequent fungal infections, try adding one or two

cloves of raw garlic a day to your diet. Raw garlic is a potent

antifungal agent. Garlic tincture is also an alternative.

Essential oils can relieve the discomfort of itching and burning.

Essential oils recommended are tea tree, eucalyptus, patchouli and

grapefruit ... Grapefruit-seed extract essential oil is reported to

have significant antifungal effects. Apply the extract (full

strength) two to three times a day to the affected area.

Tea-tree oil extracted from the leaves of Melaleuca alternifolia, is

another home remedy that works as well as or better than over-the-

counter medications such as Tinactin and Lotrimin. Apply a light

coating of this essential oil to the affected area three or four

times a day, and continue to apply it for two weeks after the

infection seems to have disappeared. You want to make sure the fungus

is terminated. Tea-tree oil will also clear up fungal infections of

the toenails or fingernails, conditions that are usually difficult to

cure, even with strong antibiotics. It's also effective for ringworm

and jock itch, as well as bacterial infections of the skin.

Eucalyptus and Patchouli can fight athlete's foot by destroying the

fungus.

Soak your foot in a mixture of 2 teaspoons salt per pint of warm

water. Do this for 5 to 10 minutes at a time, and repeat until the

problem clears up. The saline solution helps provide an unappealing

atmosphere for the fungus and lessens excess perspiration. It softens

the affected skin, so antifungal medications can penetrate deeper and

act more effectively. As the tub fills with water add 2 spoons of Sea

Salts to the foot bath water for a soothing, cleansing soak.

Submerging as much of your feet as possible, stay in the bath for at

least 20 minutes, adding water as needed to maintain the temperature

of the bath.

My husband's in the military and has to wear steel toed leather boots for work 6

days a week. Those yucjy things definetly don't breath! He gets athletes foot

often including blistering peeling skin that is super itchy. He changes the

insoles as often as he remembers. But as soon as he gets home he takes his

shoes and socks off, and when he remembers, he'll sock his feet in Hydrogen

Peroxide. It kills off/dries up the fungus super quick and it goes away within a

day or two. Works easy and great. I've heard a LOT of great uses for hydrogen

peroxide. I keep a 1:5 ratio in a spray bottle. I have a fully tiled walk in

shower, I spray it in the shower to keep mold from growing in the grout. I also

use it to clean the bathroom counters and the kitchen counters. I'm allergic to

the strong scents of cleaners, and it doesn't smell. Plus of course it kills

the germs on the counters, and kills the mold in the shower!

There is a very simple natural remedy for foot problems, including that nasty

fungus that makes your toe nails thick and ugly. Just take 50% apple cider

Vinegar and 50% warm water, soak your feet in it,you can do this for a short

time or longer, it kills the fungus of any kind and stops the yellow old coot

toe nails. It is not permanent for the toe nail fungus, it will kill the

athletes feet, and it will most assuredly kill any fungus in your shower.

I put it in a spray bottle and do the carpet lightly myself.

You can spray it in the boots also-lightly

It is also good for hunger if you are on a diet, however that's one tea spoon

in an 8 OZ glass of water.

Let me know how it works for you, I soak my feet every evening, if you dont

for the toe nail fungus, you will have to take those pills for one year, I just

cant do that.
