unexplained nausea lasting months

Hey all, i'm allison, 19-year-old student.

Firstly, i can't quite see whether this a group just for practitioners

to discuss, or for patients as well, so i'm very sorry if i'm in the

wrong place and will gladly leave rather than interfere..

my main reason for being here is unexplained nausea lasting months on

end.. i know i have issues with dealing with anxiety and stress, and

get sick whenever i'm nervous or stressed, and i got sicker for a

couple of weeks before seeing a doctor, and getting diagnosed with

reflux.. the first medicine only helped a little, the second helped a

little more, but i'm back to just the plain old nausea now..

i'm not expecting a million people to answer, i was planning to just

watch from the sidelines and maybe get some ideas of what it could be

or who i could see to find out..

so it'll be nice to meet you all!

born_of_beltane: Honey - this group is for patients and also full of

excellent practitioner! Watch the group and you will see who they

are. To answer your question - put Adrenal Fatigue in your browser

and see how that fits into Your unexplained nausea. I'm not saying

this is what you have - however - it certainly is worth looking into.

Write back with your answer and I can promise you you will receive a

lot of help! There are a number of alternative answers here - you

just need to find one that fits your common sense and your lifestyle.

Stress can really do a number on your body - but it doesn't have to

be delt with with prescription medications. See if you can find a Dr.

in your area who works in Integrated Medicine - I, myself, prefer the

best of both worlds!

*phew* not in the wrong place then..

i searched up adrenal fatigue and some definately does sound familiar

(for instance: i get suddenly so tired for no reason no matter how

much or how little i sleep, and despite B vitamin supplements).

however there are also many other illnesses and diseases that i can

say 'yeah, i have those symptoms'.)

A little info then...(read on if you dare- not suitable for those

with short attention spans *grin*).

I often feel slightly queasy, almost every day.

i sometimes feel slightly.. can't quite find a word for it.. sort of

faint, but not as if i'm GOING to faint.. its like i'm not quite

intune with things as i usually am... just random, can't seem to find

any reason for it.

i occasionally, several times a day for a couple of minutes or so,

with no pattern that i can see, get a horrible burning pain across my

stomach. as i may have mentioned, i was diagnosed with reflux and

given 2 different drugs for it, but this pain is relatively new.. its

like when youre really really hungry, and your stomach feels like its

eating itself (hahaha), but if happens randomly, even when i'm not

hungry.

every morning i wake up feeling nauseous, although today i woke up

with my tummy region hurting on both sides (kidney area i suppose)

and have been feeling 'blocked up' for a few days..

some fruits, especially apples, and i mean just 1 apple, not heaps,

make me get diarrhoea the next day. my GP reckons thats weird but

didn't give me any other answer.

often my 'queasyness' becomes nausea or flat out 'i feel really ill',

but i never throw up. when i'm feeling really ill (often while

travelling or when nervous) i get flushed, my face and head feel

really hot... and i get shaky.

right as i write this, my head feels... 'heavy' (not the first time

either) and i have that 'faint but not quite' feeling again... like i

need to lie down, but its only just past lunchtime and i slept for 8

hours last night.

and general quick stuff

i'm 19, female, weigh around 52 kilograms, and was in general good

health. i am clear of all stds (except herpes, i believe i have

that), and as far as i know do not have cancer, diabetes or anything

else besides a mild case of athletes foot and acne that won't seem to

completely go away. bah! damn teenagehood... oh and fine lines!!! 19

and i have f**king frown lines that stay even if i stretch the skin!!

*cries* god, you start getting over acne, and bam, straight into fine

lines...

thankyou all so SO much and especially for reaching the bottom of my

long rant..

I would also recommend finding out more about celiac disease and

irritable bowel syndrome. The brain fog and fatigue you describe is

what I endured for 13 years before finding a diagnosis. The

necessary diet has transformed me and saved my life.

Hi ! I'm new so forgive me if I say something that's already been said !

Has diabetes been ruled out ? could you be pregnant ? (sorry !) How is your

diet ? consider the glycemic index of everything you eat (easy to find on the

web), low gi foods stop a quick sugar rush and keep energy levels even. I find

sweet things do this to me, a burst of light headed energy followed by

sleepiness, nausea and feeling you need to eat something to stop from feeling

nauseous ?

Sounds like you are clued up on vitamins but don't take B vits on an empty

stomach ! always with food or you will feel sick !!

For relief of nausea, ginger is wonderful ! I used throughout pregnancies.

You say you have 'lines', I'm early forties and I don't ! are you getting

enough fats ? and I know it's personal but are your periods okay ?

Adrenal Exhaustion is a possibility, also Gall Bladder.... If your GP can't find

anything then seek out a NP....Chronic Fatigue and even parasites and allergies

can cause the symptoms you are talking about.

Parasites, fungus etc all attribute to acne, athletes food, nausea, exhaustion

etc... I work with Adrenal Exhaustion and pathogens everyday in my practice with

good therapeutic results. Diet is essential.

Get rid of the garbage such as refined sugars, flours, alcohol, artificial

sweeteners. Eat more fresh fruits, vegetables and whole grains, less meat and

bad fats. Make sure you're taking a good vitamin supplement, calcium-magnesium

supplement and EFA's daily. Fruit juices are super concentrated and often have

added sugars, eat the whole fruit rather than juice for the full benefit.

Hi

I just read your post and it reminded me of a quick thyroid test I took a few

hours ago online here. Some of the questions were about your head feeling

heavy, tiredness in afternoon, constipation. Wouldn't hurt to take the quiz.

Here's the link:

i took a blood test and urine test to make sure an std wasnt the

problem, which it wasn't, and no, definately not pregnant (its been

long enough since my last bf that i should be able to see, and even

if not, i took a pregnancy test (3 actually) to make sure...

not sure if diabetes would have shown up in the blood test... i'll

get it checked..

i eat fairly well.. i stay well away from mcdonalds etc and rarely

eat fatty foods... eat muesli with dried fruit for breakfast, lactose

free milk (i like the taste), have white or wholemeal sandwiches with

lettuce, ham. cheese, tomato, that kind of stuff in it.. and

generally a meat and veg concotion for dinner; my parents are both in

medicine and eat quite well (heart smart meat and everything)...

fat for lines eh? please explain, if its not too much trouble... (it

is NOT natural for a 19 year old girl to have fine lines, not only as

frown lines, but on her forehead as well)...

hmm.. yesterday my stomach felt.. well.. achy.. all day, still had

the blocked up feeling.. but i remember in the morning it was just

aching and then suddenly there was this massive flush of pain all

across my tummy.. lasted only about 20 seconds and faded away, but it

hurt like *refrains from swearing*..

also, i can't eat apples.. well i can, but it means i get diarhoea

the next morning.. just one apple (i might have already explained

this, can't remember)... could i have a digestion problem or lack or

something that helps you digest such things as apples?

Hi,

I had suffered from nausea for 3-4 years. At first it would happen

towards the end of a meal, then middle, then after a few bites. Then

it was 24/7. I had some other stomach issues also so my doc gave me

an endoscopy. (Scope down the throat) After fasting for 14 hours I

still had alot of food in my stomach. They gave me another test

wich is to study the emptying of your stomach. My result was that I

have Gastro-paresis. A paralyzation of the stomach that does not

allow you to digest as quickly as others, therefore food ferments

and infections can set in. My first doc said he didn't know what

caused it, gave me some meds, and I became worse. So I stopped the

meds, dealt with it on my own and suffered for another 3 yrs. This

summer I got a new doc, he said my gastro paresis was pretty bad and

told me infection is usually the cause. He put me on Erythromycin

in liquid form and I was better within two weeks. I'm told it will

never go away, however, I do get relief with Zantac and the anti

biotic when needed. Hope this helps!

hmmm. well, i have severe hashimotos thyroiditis. i used to get this weird

hunger kind of thing, and the faintness, or dizzyness. i have low blood sugar

as a result of the thyroid problem. slow digestion, etc. i remember that i

would get sooo tired in the afternoon that i actually dozed off on the toilet at

work one day!!! ugh. my skin was rough and thick feeling. dull looking. hair

would thin intermittently. weak brittle nails. severe brain fog. edema and alot

of stomach problems. i lived on gaviscon and tums. literally. very bad

menstrual issues, only four periods a year, but they were doozies. severe sleep

problems. finally, when i began lactating, and i have never had a child (!) i

went and got diagnosed.

oh, yeah, i have very sparse eyebrows, esp. the lateral half. hmmmm?

I got a 25! I have joined the iodine just to lurk as there is

no way I want to go on meds. It's very interesting. Thought I'd throw that

out. Adrenal exhaustion can also go along with thyroid problems.

Donna,

At one time I took Propulsid as it rushed the food throught the stomach,

but it was taken off the market I believe due to it being a carcinogin or

other

problems.

Have you read how taking food enzymes might help digest your food quickly?

As we age, we lose enzymes. Protease works on protein, and there are

products that contain all enzymes or just certain ones. Protease is a little

tougher on the stomach the RN who sold them to me said, so she started

me on the rest of them and after a month or so, we added Protease. It

seemed to help my digestion, but I quit. I think I used to order from

Royal Gardens. Maybe somebody can recommend some also. I used

to suffer a lot of nausea and got to the point of eating nothing but soda

crackers with water and even that, made me nauseous. Nauseous if I

didn't eat and if I did! I'm starting that up again now, so I'm thinking of

going back on enzymes, if very frequent small meals don't help.

Food fermenting in the gut can cause a serious chronic condition called

" leaky gut syndrome " . At its' worst, IV feedings must be done for nutrition.

you mean that weird burning feeling you get when you're REALLY

hungry.. except when you're not hungry?!!!! i don't have rough skin,

except at the sides of my mouth, but i am only 19 and have visible

fine lines.. so somethings very weird... menstrual issues yes,

relatively regular (relatively, sometimes goes very weird though) but

not the right.. colour.. goes brown WAY too early (like, 1 day) after

starting, rather than near the end of it.. get so exhausted so fast,

i struggle to stay awake and have trouble even just standing.. i can

sleep fine though... *shrugs*

please, tell me how you got diagnosed, which test.. i can get the

same test and see if thats the answer... (so many thigns i can relate

to except for maybe one or two, but lets not jump to conclusions..)

Rough skin at the sides of your mouth? I've only seen two other people

who had that. Is it below the corners of your mouth? I sure would like

to hear what anybody knows about that.

I suddenly got that rough skin when I lived near a chemical plant,

along with red, sensitive skin and " pimples " that didn't have anything

to squeeze out of them. Most of that went away as soon as I left that

area, but the pimples stayed with me.

i dont know about the nausea, but the rough, red patches at the corner of your

mouth could be lack of riboflavin in your diet. If the nausea results in

vomiting, watch your electrolyte imbalance.

ok, so for anyone who remembers my posts, pretty recent... i now have

constant stomach pain (like an ache), i'm tired and lethargic), i can

no longer eat tomaotes or citrusy fruits without pain and sickness, and

my menstrual cycle is being completely weird.. i'll have a period, then

the next one will be 2 weeks early, then the next a month and a half

later.. one was due 4 days ago and hasn't come (no, i'm not pregnant,

unless its possible to be pregnant and stil have periods and no change

in weight or body shape...), and also, it goes brown very quickly,

wthin a day or so of starting.. i don't have any stds, the doc did a

test... and that crazy menstrual cycle was going on a few months before

all the reflux pain and stuff...

also, i start feeling slightly ill when eating or after meals.. any

suggestions? would it be a good idea to get a gastroendoscopy (i think

thats what its called- a tube down your throat)...

thankyou in advance!
