I'm a foster mom and have a new baby that is 5 months old. We have had

her for about month. She has a pretty bad case of eczema and has had

problems with every formula we've tried. She has an apt. with a G.I.

Dr. next week but I need help this week. I've even tried goats milk,

but with in a week she having diarea and her eczema gets worse. Her

poor bottom. As I feed her you can watch her face go blocky then in

15 - 20 it comes out the other end like muddy acid and she starts

screaming. We are now using Similac Alimentum at $25.00 a 1lb. can and

she is reacting to it. Any help would be great.

I learned that as you keep changing formulas it can cause abnormal things, gas,

indigestion, diahrea, etc. Remeber their little bodies have never had these new

things before. Just a thought..

You might want to look into buying breastmilk. Some mothers choose to buy it

from another mother rather than feed formula. And really it makes sense that

this poor little one is having problems. It really baffles me why these

companies make formula for human babies out of the milk of another species. That

might be something to look into, though. Have you tried soy formula?

You may already know this, or it may sound really weird to you, but

did you know that it is possible (with a little work) for a woman to

start producing milk even if she didn't bear the child? I just have to

put a plug in for natural breastmilk. Best thing for babies.

Is there any way to contact social services and get her previous medical

records and maybe this will shed some light on her allergies to formula

My Partner had to make the formula for his daughter. She was allergic to

everything and even Alimentum didn't work. Have you tried a Soya based formula?

Mine when they quit breast feeding were supplemented with Soya.

It could be her digestive enzymes are out of whack, parasites (yes babies get

them), even her digestive tract needs the flora rebalanced. I used to have to

put a packet of bowl flora in my daughters bottles. That kept the diarrhea at

bay.

If you will write me I would be glad to share the formula with you.

I started breast feeding Nicholas but ended up having to stop because of a

infection. He did well with the bottle I think I used the Gerber stuff it has

been a while ago. However my sister in law breast fed both of my nephews she was

a milk making momma.

this babe needs holding and cuddling..with a good soothing

voice..................also...if you were nursing and holding that baby

for any length of time...where would yr hands be?........the areas that

free the skin flow are below the knees...in the back of each leg...about

1/3 down...if yr facing baby...cross yr arms................if yr both in

the same direction...just hold each leg below the knee..................when

baby does this naturally...they start to smile in a short

time................the allergy reactions you describe are simple to

regulate at this young age...............they are usually trauma

reactions....and to remove that emotional blockage.......is usually done at

the nursing pose.....one arm under knees....other hand between

shouldere blades.....best to you....check the web site for jin shin

juytsu....smile..bye

Here's a link for those interested in induced lactation (I just did a

quick search).

And La Leche League is always a good source of information.
