I have some homepathic remedies, flower formula things and some tintures that are supposed to help. I am having hypnotherapy, seeing a dietician and going for further tests at the hospital. I wondered ig there was anything else I could be doing to get myself well? Any suggestions would be welcome!! Thanks, Gina. ********I don't TRUST dietician UNLESS they are schooled in alternatives....I can't believe what dietician's tell you to eat....they will tell you to use diet products that contain Aspartame, Splenda and other chemical sweeteners. Just because you don't have a celiac diagnosis, they will let you eat GLUTEN....BTW, there are many GOOD gluten free products, including pasta's.......They even tell you to use your microwaves...<sigh> Get all the teflon pans out of your house....cookin stainless steel, cast iron or glass..... ********If it were me I would begin by giving up ALL SUGAR, GLUTEN, Caffeine, soda's and bottled juice's. NO alcohol....NO sweets (desserts)....I would do a " master cleanse " of my kidney's, liver and colon. IBS is very fixable is done right and can be done WITHOUT drugs. DIET/NUTRITION is one of the hardest lifestyle changes you can embark upon. Hard very hard to do, but when you get sick enough you will do it.....have you been checked for parasites? Do you drink regular milk? Do you take any digestive/systemic enzymes? ********Proper DIET/NUTRITION will heal you much faster than the western boys and girls will. They will give you drugs, treating your SYMPTOMS and not the CAUSE!! <shaking head> Angel Huggzz Linda or Angel
Guest guest
Hi, Gina, In addition to Angel's suggestions, I would add Whole Leaf Aloe Vera Juice to your diet. This is wonderful for healing the entire digestive tract. Peppermint essential oil applied topically over the abdomen can help, as well. However, it may antidote some of the homeopathics; so use at least an hour apart. Best Wishes, Kris , Angls4Hope wrote: > > > In a message dated 11/17/2006 1:12:00 P.M. Guest guest
Anyone with IBS needs to take probiotics!!! Probiotics are beneficial bacteria that live in the intestines of healthy people. If you don't have these, or you don't have enough of these (they can be killed when you take antibiotics), you can get intestinal disbiosys & your whole digestive system can be out or order. This can cause IBS, GERD & other problems. So you have to replace the benficial bacteria. Acidophilus helps in the small intestine. Btw, there are several hundred kinds of acidophilus, so get a good brand. Natren makes some of the best. I've even seen acidophilus added to some yogurts, even though it's not usually in yogurt. Bifidus works in the colon & will GREATLY help alleviate your IBS symptoms. Nature's Way also makes a good one. If I take it regularly my IBS actually goes away! There are other probiotics & some formulas have several kinds in them. But these 2 seem to help me best. On your diet, people with celiacs disease are allergic to gluten. If you find grain aggravates your IBS, you might have celiacs. If you do, avoid grains containing gluten. Which means, don't take any wheat bran. I know fiber helps, but use one that won't aggravate you. Try psyllium fiber. That may be irritating to some, so try glucomannon fiber. It's said to be very well tolerated. Mastic gum is said to help IBS patients, even though I've never tried it. It's relatively expensive as far as supplements go, but is said to help a lot. I think it's from the bark of a certain pistachio(sp?) tree. Peppermint will help soothe irritated intestines, but can irritate your stomach. so get the enteric-coated kind so it will bypass your stomach & be released in the intestines. Important note. Avoid high fructose corn syrup. It's in EVERYTHING now days, so read your labels. It's very irritating to anyone with IBS. Eat things like yogurt, sour cream, buttermilk to help replace your intestinal flora (bacteria). I've seen that one yogurt now days has even added bifidus to it. It's called Activa. If you think you have a yeast problem, (many times when your intestinal bacteria is comprimised, yeast will overgrow) use real apple cider vinegar. You'll have to get this at your health food store. The apple cider vinegar you get at the grocery store is often just white vinegar that's flavored & made to look like the real thing. Real apple cider vinegar will have the 'mother' in the bottle. That's the fIbrous-looking substance you see floating in there. You can use apple cider vinegar & olive oil to make a good salad dressing. Just add your spices to it. But do avoid iceberg lettuce. It's very irritating to the IBS patient. If you have a yeast problem, there are quite a few natural supplements that will help you. But we're talking about IBS here, so I won't go into those. This is the rationale against eating sugar when you have IBS: if your intesitinal bacteria is comprimised, the yeast there will overgrow & cause problems & yeast LOVES/feeds on sugar, so you end up with yeast problems. But it's hard to give up sugar & you can help your IBS greatly by just adding probiotics, even if you don't give up sugar. (in the real world, how many of us are going to do that for long anyhow???) Btw:(70% of your immune system is in or around your intestines, so anyone with any immune problems should also take probiotics.) Jean > Hi, I was recently diagnosed with ibs. Guest guest
As a Reflexologist,I have had good experience with clients who suffer from IBS. The treatment breaks the pain = stress = pain cycle and allows the body to relax. Reflexology works well with alleopathic and all forms of alternative medicine. Deanna Think universally.
