Guest guest
Hello everybody,my four year old son has been sufering wit excema for 3 years and he is only four. we have been through all the creams that western medicine has to offer and he has even had allergy tests done which proved to be insugnificant. I know now that we really need to heal this from the inside out, the problem is that I am a single mom on assistance and can not afford a homeopath. I started him on fish oil capsules and he was briefly on sulfer tabs as per recomended by a local health food store employee, but they did not seem to help. Please, any advice would be so welcomed. I don't want my little boy to suffer anymore, he spends more time scratching his skin till it bleeds than having fun. this is no way for a little boy to live. Guest guest
My son is 1 1/2 and has had eczema about a year... we still don't have it all cleared up but hemp oil has been a *huge* help for him. I also have eczema but mine seems to be a bit harder to deal with (though it is much better with the hemp oil). I put the hemp oil in smoothies for my son and he drinks it. Just put a banana, some rice milk, a few spinach leaves or pieces of zucchini or something, and about a tablespoon of hemp oil in the blender and blend till it's smooth. I also put a few drops of hemp oil directly on his skin a couple of times a day, which also helps. Hemp oil has more omega 6 oils than any fish, as well as having the correct balance of 3's and 6's. It's a little pricey but lasts a while. I had asked this board about this same thing only a few days ago and someone suggested cutting out dairy. Also, the more fresh fruits and vegetables your son eats, the better. Good diet is, in my opinion, the best thing that can be done for just about any health issue. Guest guest
Hi Try giving your son a bath in warm water and just add some Bicarbonate of Soda, this will help to neutralise the skin and this can ease the itching and redness. It's natural. You can also try an aromatherapy oil blend, sweet almond oil, roman camomile oil and lavender oil, this can be added to a bath also and then just pat him dry or gently massaged into the skin, this can be used whilst the eczema is a problem and as a preventative. You can contact me at helen if you want more information. Hope it helps. Guest guest
Try Virgin Coconut Oil. Its very cheap but effective. Rub it on the affected area everyday. VCO contains lauric acid that destroy bacteria and viruses. Try to search the web and you will find the benefits of using VCO. I hope I was able to help you. sweetachoo <melisarose wrote: Hello everybody,my four year old son has been sufering wit excema for 3 years and he is only four. we have been through all the creams that western medicine has to offer and he has even had allergy tests done which proved to be insugnificant. Guest guest
this is what helped me. i have had eczema since about 2weeks old. olive oil rub down after bath. delete dairy, wheat, red meat. wsh veggies and fruit before giving it to him. stop the citrus. give him chickweed capsules 3xaday.make an ointment:shea butter, eucalyptus oil, patchouli oil, cedarwood oil. use 1 oz of shea butter per 3drops of each oil. melt the shea and mix shea butter and essential oils together. bathe him in dr. bronner's babymild castille soap, use this ointment on his skin allover. i hope this will help.remember excema is an external allergic reaction.also try to identify what he is doing when he has a flareup. does he also have asthma? --- rajibnain <rajibnain wrote: > , > " sweetachoo " > <melisarose wrote: > > > > Hello everybody,my four year old son has been > sufering wit excema for > > 3 years and he is only four. we have been through > all the creams that > > western medicine has to offer and he has even had > allergy tests done > > which proved to be insugnificant. Guest guest
Hello, I live in Sacramento, I am sure that there are reasonable rates for homeopaths but I don't have any extra money at all, when i take him to the Doctors I don't pay anything. My sons excema has been around for three years, he does not seem to ever have a good or bad season, if it goes away, it comes back just as suddenly. He has it worst on his ankles, tops of his feet, hands, behind knees. These are the areas that he scratches raw. He also becomes patchy and sometimes welts all over his legs, especially bad when he takes a bath. After he gets out, he is red all over. it's gotten so bad before that his elbows developed staph infection. Just last night the water hurt his feet so badly in the bath that i had to spong bath him while holding him out of the water. any help you can offer would be greatly appreciated. Guest guest
Hello Melisa Rose, My heart goes out to you. I was born with that same affliction and I can attest to its horrors. After many years I found the cause and it is gone. You may have a hard time believing the cause because I am sure your son is a beautiful child. The cause is held in the subconscious mind and is a feeling of ugliness. This feeling could have come from anywhere. Based on your letter I have some ideas on how he may have gotten that feeling but hesitate to say because I don't have enough information and don't want to mislead you. As a child we used vegetable shorting like Spry on the surface of my skin. It seemed to work the best. The main thing is to let your son know that he is and always has been beautiful. Guest guest
Try putting some baking soda in his bathwater, and only bathing him a couple of times a week. My kids, 3 and 1 1/2, get only one or two baths per week and they are fine. Especially in the wintertime, they don't get dirty and the heater being on dries the skin out even more. Guest guest
I suggest Probiotics, there are studies out now that show that if pregnant women take probiotics that helps lessen the percent of babies who have allergies and I don't remember if they are okay for a four year old but I would look online, go to the health food store, ask about him. here's a link http://www.natren.com/pages/eczema.asp , " jmr1290 " <jomarex wrote: > > What kind of soap are you using? Guest guest
Be very careful which products you are using...soaps, etc. I once developed a severe itching on my hands & I scatched until they bled. The dr couldn't find anything wrong so just told me to use a cortisone hand cream. Then someone else who had the same problem told me the cause was Dawn dish washing liquid. I was using it then, so I stopped & the problem went away. Some products on the market now are very irritating to some individuals with a comprimised immune system. Suspect anything you are using....bars of soap, detergents used to wash your clothes, etc, etc. Use only the mildest products you can find. I've also read that persons with eczema have an immune system that is not working properly: it overreacts to things we are allergic to & causes symptoms, including skin irritations. This can also be things we eat that cause the problem. So keep a food diary & see if certain foods make the problem worse. Since 70% of our immune system is in or around the intestinal system, then we need to take probiotics to help fix that. The link below has some info on eczema that should help. You can also find products there that you need. (acidophilus, bifidus, yogurt, etc) You can call the Natren company & they will help you determine if & what you need. You can get these at your local health food store too. http://www.natren.com/pages/eczema.asp ....some excerpts... The Link Between The Digestive Tract and Eczema Medical research has found a close correlation between eczema, food allergy, and intestinal permeability – or actual holes in the intestinal wall of the digestive system (Jackson 1981). This means large food particles slip into the blood before they are properly digested and broken down into smaller particles. When large molecules of undigested food pass directly into the blood, they can attach to various cells anywhere in the body. Meanwhile, an intense alarm is sent to the immune system. Defense factors mobilize around the large food particles and stimulate inflammation. If skin happens to be the target, inflammation from the IgE antibody brings the release of large amounts of histamine and other defensive substances. These chemicals cause the allergic reaction in the form of the itchy and scaly conditions of eczema. Intestinal permeability is also a sign the gut mucosa has lost portions of its three and half pounds of beneficial bacteria and is therefore lacking its protective advantage in the digestive tract. Antigens can escape now from the intestines into the bloodstream instead of being carried away by excretion activity. Thus, once intestinal permeability exists, a vicious and complicated cycle burdens the immune system and taxes liver filtration. The successful answer to eczema lies in adding beneficial bacterial as " pro-life " or probiotic supplements to help normalize high acid levels and rebuild the intestinal lining or mucosa with the same kind of microscopic organisms or flora which live in the healthy intestinal tract. Outside Probiotic Help For The Skin Since most eczema skin has higher ratios of Staphylococcus aureus germs on the outside surface compared to healthy skin, here's a novel strategy. Fight harmful staph germs by applying a probiotic skin preparation directly to the effected skin. Lactobacillus acidophilus bacteria applied in cream form will bring soothing relieve to damaged skin while helping new skin cells to grow back in a healthy manner. You'll be amazed at the fast results. , Melisa R Miles <melisarose wrote: > > Hello, > I live in Sacramento, I am sure that there are reasonable rates for homeopaths but I don't have any extra money at all, when i take him to the Doctors I don't pay anything. Guest guest
A few years ago, my hands suddenly started aching. Took me a couple weeks to figure out that it might be that pretty lavender-colored soap I had started using for washing my hands. Stopped using it, and the aching went away immediately, never came back. My kids, 3 and 1 1/2, take a chewable tablet every day... though someone has said this may not be the ideal form, so once this bottle runs out we're going to try a different kind. Guest guest
Melisa, My son (now 18 years old and starting college) and daughter 11 both suffer with Eczema. My son came home from the hospital with it three days after birth. We have tried everything; dietary some things help some don't and it is important to remove one item at a time or you will not know which has an effect, steroid creams and ointments which sometimes calm the itching but are definitely not a good thing in the long term; eliminating artificle colors and fragrances in anything that washes, softens, etc clothing, sheets or anything that touches his body - this definitely helps. We tried the " new " ointments as they came out with some reduction for a time, but then started reading warnings about their use. We've been through many natural remedies, some helped but not long term. We found that some natural remedies made it worse (he is allergic to almond oil). It had gotten to the point that he was missing school and his arms looked like reptile skin. He had been taking fish oil with some success but was still miserable. Recently, we began seeing a Nurse Practitioner who is also a Naturopath. His office prescribed a cream made of Vitamin B-12, avacado and aloe. It does have to be compounded, but it lasts us about three to four months and my son has to apply it to both arms, his face and behind his knees (he is over 6 feet tall) so a little goes a long way. He went from looking and feeling miserable to no eczema at all in three days. He still takes 2000-3000 mg of fish oil per day and avoids sugar and processed foods (as much as a freshman in college will). I know that helps with healing but the B-12 cream is what turned it around. Possibly someone in the group knows the correct amounts for compounding. I hope this can in some way help you, I know how miserable eczema can be, it caused my son great pain physically and emotionally. And I felt terrible every time we tried something and it didn't work. Guest guest
For whoever was asking about their little 4 year old, I had major digestive issues at 12 months old and it was a Chiropractic adjustment that brought me back from disease (and yes, I do make the connection between the skin and digestive systems) There are many cases of eczema going away after receiving good Chiropractic care, however, the annoying part is it's tough to predict the results for each individual. The nice thing about Chiropractic however, is that it's very safe for Children and you don't lose anything by trying. Evan
Guest guest
Find a NAET practitioner! This noninvasive treatment seems crazy at first but I have seen firsthand the positive effects. You can go to NAET.com for info. I have had treatments, my kids and my friends. The treatments cleared my inhalant allergies that I have had my entire life. My friends son couldn't eat ANYTHING, he was allergic to every food, and now he is fine. You have to check into it! It is not a temporary solution, it's a permanant one. Guest guest
Dear Melissa Rose, It must be horrible to see your little boy suffer like that. If you possibly can, buy the book " Healing Psoriasis " by Dr Pagano. It is about eczema as well. Even just seeing the pictures on the website will give you hope. http://psoriasis-healing.com The book goes deeply into the root causes of eczema (congested liver and leaky gut) and offers tips for topical treatment as well. As always, different remedies work for different people. I love the story of the young boy who only needed a teaspoon of slippery elm powder a day to clear right up. Slippery elm (Ulmus Fulva) is widely available and not expensive. Treating the condition from the inside out takes time, and meanwhile my friend Magda's gentle herbal ointment has worked for many kids in the same boat whose mothers were at their wits end. It is cheap and safe and is a great all-over wound healer to have handy. Magda is on a brief trip right now, so don't try to order at the website if you are in a hurry. But I have one pot of it here and will be glad to send it to you on Monday. The one I have is $17, including shipping. You can paypal me ienvan and I will make sure Magda gets it. I make no money on this. I just really love this stuff and enjoy promoting a friend. Guest guest
This might be of some help..I saw this in " Answers " http://answers./question/index?qid=20060905123226AAbDZdm Page 132 in Adelle Davis's Let's Get Well deals with the myriad nutritional deficiencies that can cause eczema. Murray's Encyclopedia of Natural Medicine recommends: Vitamin A 5000 units per day (Unless pregnant!), Vit E 400 IU per day, Zinc piccolinate 45-60 mg daily til better, Quercetin, grape seed extract, Green Tea extract, or Gingko biloba; EPA and DHA and evening primrose oil. The book gives a good discussion and clear details on how to take all this good stuff. I usually recommend a good multivitamin, EFA complete (swansonvitamins.com), and Simicort cream (Enzymatic Therapy). Source(s): I am a pharmacist Access over 1 million songs - Music Unlimited. Guest guest
Dear Melissa, Working in the body care industry and being responsible for research and development, there is a really simple thing to try for a few weeks and see how you go. We don't even need essential oils in this case because he is so young, but there are amazing benefits with just maybe 10-12 drops of pure extra virgin olive oil after his bath while his skin is still moist and supple. After toweling him off, take a bit of olive oil in your hands, rub them together and get a smooth even coat over his whole body. The skin takes about 15 minutes to absorb what it needs but if you find he doesn't like the way it feels you can also use the still damp towel to wipe off any excess oil. This is probably one the easiest, most inexpensive ways to combat this problem. (and probably the most effective.) One addition to this is if he can suck up some sunlight whenever possible will also help him to assimilate vitamin A. We can take all the vitamin a supplements we want but without sunlight to assimilate the vitamin, its useless. Can't picture many sicilians with eczema, hahaha. Sometimes to regress is to progress. If we were around when our great grandparents where healing there children, we probably would have seen really simple remedies like this as well. Good luck and I wish you the best , " Julie " <abetterjulie wrote: > > Hello, > Have you tried a rotation diet?
