Guest guest
Hi Shauna, I do hope that is the name you go by... There is actually a much better method than either but for that I need to know what your diet consists of in detail if you please. What do you eat for breakfast normally, lunch (normally) and supper (normally). How often do you eat meat (beef, pork, fowl, fish), pastas, breads, vegetables, fruits, dairy, grains, cereals, sweets, candies? Do you eat fried foods? Boiled foods? Raw foods? Baked foods? Do you drink coffee? Teas? Sodas? Milk? Fruit and/or vegetable juices. Just water? What kind of water? Tap? Filtered? Distilled? How much fluids do you drink in a day? Do you exercise regularly? Do you run, jog, walk, hike, swim, play tennis, soccer, bicycle, what and how often? How often do you have bowel movements? Once a day? After every meal? Every other day? Once a week? How is your health in general? Do you have any other health issues? Overweight? Underweight? Depression? Are you currently taking any medications? Have you been taking any medications? Drugs? Do you consume alcoholic beverages? If so how much and how often? This is just a good starting point to assess your overall health in determining possible causes and modes of treatment. Your input will be of immense help. Guest guest
Don, Yes, I go by Shauna. Thanks for replying. Here are some answers to your questions. Generally, I eat fruit or an English muffin for breakfast (sometimes nothing). I eat yogurt and a fruit for lunch and either a sandwich, cottage cheese and vegetables, or cooked vegetables of some sort (stir-fry, steamed, baked potato, etc) for supper. I am a vegetarian. I rarely eat pasta because of the extreme " filling " sensation I get. I eat one to two servings a bread per day generally. I eat a lot of vegetables and fruits. I am lactose intolerant but can eat yogurt, cottage cheese and low-fat sandwich cheese ok. I do drink lactose free milk. I rarely eat grains or cereals because of the same " filling " sensation. I eat sweets about once or twice a day. I do not like fried foods at all and rarely broil anything. I like veggies raw or steamed generally. I drink a cup of coffee a day and a cup or two of tea every other day. I drink water all day and never drink sodas due to not liking carbonation. I exercise 4-5 times a week. I am a member of 24 hour fitness and lift weights, do cardio, take classes, and play raquetball. Right now I have bowel movements all day due to the meds. But before it was once a week or once every 2 weeks which got to be extremely painful due to the IBS. I am 5 foot 4 inches tall and weigh about 100-102 pounds. I have endometriosis so I take birth control for that. I also take Zelnorm for the IBS. I rarely drink alcohol. I generally have a glass or two of wine per week. I hope that gives you enough information to give me some advice. thanks! herbal remedies , " Don Quai " <mysticalherbalist> wrote: > Hi Shauna, > > I do hope that is the name you go by... Guest guest
Hi Shauna, John here. My wife tells me that when we eat fruit for breakfast (melons or some such), we should wait at least a half hour before eating anying else. She got this from the "Fit For Life" book. It seems to work well for us. Do your symptoms change when you don't eat the muffin or grain products? Or the dairy products? These are main things that I have to avoid like the plague! They cause my symptoms to become so much worse than they usually are. You might want to consider taking the coffee out of your diet, as it has serious effects on the digestive system. When you say you drink tea, are you speaking black tea or herbal? Oh, and are the veggies that you eat organic? Just a few questions/comments off the top of my head, from the same perspective as you. ;-) Johnshaunarenee42 <shaunarenee42 wrote: Don, Yes, I go by Shauna. Thanks for replying. Guest guest
i'm pretty sure all of these symptoms can be caused by candida overgrowth...maybe do some research on this to see if anything rings a bell. if so i would suggest adopting a candida diet (which is a pretty good one anyway)...100% organic, no sugar (of any kind-- includes fruit--eventually you can bring this back in gradually), no wheat or other glutenous grains, no dairy, no fermented products and no alcohol. (it's obviously best to do w/o all of these for as long as you can...but i believe every little bit helps...so if you can only cut back on these things so be it...the sugar is the biggest to avoid...feeds the yeast) i would suggest adding to your diet a good food-based multi vitamin (or the total nutrition from doc's files) acidopholus (to increase the friendly bacteria)--this is probably good for you whether you decide candida is the culprit or not--aids digestions eat lots of raw garlic take vit. c take an immune booster (astragulus or echinacea--best to rotate) rotate anti-fungals (you rotate b/c the yeast build up a tolerance), which include grapefruit seed extract, olive leaf extract, pau d'arco and capryllic acid i hope this is helpful and not too overwhelming. before doing any of this your best bet would be to at least do the intestinal cleanse in doc's files if not the total body cleanse...if candida is the culprit...these cleanses will make getting rid of the overgrowth that much easier. good luck. i am by no means an expert...i am sure don will get back to you with very helpful info as well. luv laura herbal remedies , John Ybarra <deuteronomy2929> wrote: > Hi Shauna, John here. Guest guest
Hi...jumping in here- when I read your post this is the question I had for you. This is the key imo...really STRESS. I suggest a raw vegan diet and really distinguishing and letting go of what the stress is...your body is sending out a message to you...be grateful...and listen to it. The IBS is a symptom. Guest guest
Gina, I am 32 and was diagnosed with IBS at age of 16. As you know different things work for different people. I swear I have been fine since taking those Pro Biotic drinks first thing in the morning. Also when I have had bad bouts, Aloe Vera (in juice or capsule form has helped a lot too). At the moment, I have had some bad spasms for the first time in years but I am pregnant and have been told that my uterus is now pressing on the bowel instead of the other way round, so I just do some deep breathing till it passes. Guest guest
Hi Gina, You may want to check out www.HypnosisPodcasting.com. Gerald Kein and I have several great audio files on all sorts of subjects. There is a great one on IBS. You said that you are seeing a hypnotist but are you aware that most hypnotists have no idea how to help with IBS. In our office we don't waste time telling your subconscious mind things it won't believe such as " You are now relaxing and the pain is reducing " . Instead we ask your subconscious mind why you are hurting and it tells us. I had a client with IBS in my office this morning and he has been suffering for several years. In one session we found the cause and changed the response. He won't be suffering any longer. This is an everyday process in our office. To learn more about hypnosis and what it can do check out the free podcasts. We also just put a new Podcast up there on painless Childbirth. The podcasts are informative and fun to listen to. I am guessing by ibs you are talking about Irritable Bowel Syndrome? I have found an informative guide for you that contains a wealth of information on controlling IBS. The author not only writes about IBS but also lives with the disorder. She shows you many ways to control this disorder and eliminate many of the symptoms, naturally.
