Guest guest
Thanks, Gina That's what I'll do! I made up a " version " of the Tonic, and that obviously included garlic (ALWAYS garlic in my house!)... had to use some regular red radishes in place of the horseradish root, not the same I know, but similar texture. Oddly enough, though, it's pretty darn tasty! Burns the heck out of my tongue and throat " straight " , but I added 2 tablespoons to some lemon water, and yum So new ? for everyone, since I am on a garlic consuming quest for the next few days... what's your favorite way to eat the yummy little blessing? ) My personal fave is blending a bunch of it in with a fresh homemade batch of organic hummus... So easy, and I eat it like crazy! I'm all out of the chick peas though I was thinking of roasting the garlic and just spreading it on pita or maybe some greens... I also tried that " Green Soup " from some recent postings, and am about to just try throwing some cloves into a cup of it for dinner... But I am thinking raw would be better, to shake this cold/allergy/whatever issue, so any ideas or faves from anyone out there would be great... not to mention, fun as Garlic is absolutely my favorite flavor! Guest guest
For colds we chop up several and add it to lukewarm tea (peppermint) or just water along with a healthy dose of lemon juice and honey to make it a bit more palatible. Sliced on veggie hot dog slices tempts our 5 yr old to eat it raw, or sliced in tomato sandwiches - tomatoes cut the sharpness on the tongue. Guest guest
Works well if u cut it up, and put it on cheese grilled toast, with pepper, basil, and chillies on top. Garlic can also stop a cold coming if u take it when you have a feeling of a cold coming.Though how u eat it determines its effect, but this approach seems to give u a more patient approach to life. Guest guest
I thought garlic was best after it was pressed? Is cutting it up and swallowing it, still good for you? Yes, it is still good for you - cutting it up after peeling and letting it set about 10-15 mins is very effective. The key is that raw/fresh garlic is stronger than roasted/cooked. Another tip - if you're going to cook garlic - peel, cut it up at least a bit, and then let it set 10-15 minutes before cooking ) Dee

Guest guest
To get the very best benefit from garlic you should eat it raw, every day. There is a substance in garlic called allicin that only happens when the cells in the walls of the garlic are " broken " by slicing, chopping or chewing. If you take the " no odor " capsules of garlic they don't really work You need to have the odor of the garlic, the allicin. Raw is best because cooking in any form reduces the health benefit of garlic I find the best way to eat it is to smash up a couple of cloves and add a touch of honey, then spread it on a cracker or bread. Also, if I am not feeling good, I will just pop a clove in my mouth and chew it and swallow. It isn't bad if you like the taste of garlic. ;-) Samala Renee ---- Dear friends, If anybody knows the best way of having Garlic ..plz tell Me.....well...If any body knows another simple way of lowering cholestrol Must tell us.....Imtiaz

They don't work. I use garlic as it works for me and also apparently if you eat enough often enough, those flying vampires (mosquitoes) will leave you alone. The best way it seems to take garlic, is to chew garlic cloves. I try to eat about one whole garlic bulb a day when I can. It takes awhile to get used to the taste and brushing afterwards helps your relationships with others. If you can't handle garlic like that, I'd suggest finding a garlic suppliment that's made from organically grown garlic and prepaired under good sterile conditions. I can't name any brands at this time because I prefer raw garlic. And also want to note, garlic does wonders for many aspects of health, so even if you don't have hige cholestrol, I'd still continue using garlic. Good Luck and best of health to you, Mark

Guest guest
Hi, I learned from koreans how to eat garlic. Peel off garlic, it would depend on you quantity you want to stock, next put the garlic in a glass jar then soak the garlic with vinegar for 24 hours, the amount of vinegar should be at least could cover the garlic inside the jar. next throw the vinegar and put new one, add soy souce then you may allow it to be soaked for another few hours then presto! you can enjoy it as your appetizer. the ratio of the new vinegar and sauce sauce you can put would depend on your taste bud if you like it more salty then put more soy sauce, but if you like more it to be sour then put more vinegar. but the combined amount of thre vinegar and soy sauce should be at the level of the amount of the skinned garlic you put in the jar. Close the jar then, can put it in the refrigirator or just outside in a room temperature it does not matter so much. for me I out more vinegar. Take note the longer you soak it the better the taste. Another idea is you may prepare the same skinned garlic just like how i descibed above, then boil the garlic in a very low setting or volume of fire in your stove, put as little water as posible then as soon as the garlic becomes soft, test it by pricking it with a tooth pick. as soon as it becomes tender but make sure it should not become too soft, remove immediately and try to cool it off. put it in a jar, keep it inside your ref. when ever you eat you can eat few pieces every meal. Guest guest
I make pickled garlic. It is very tasty. I eat at least one a day sometimes more, sometimes missing a day or two. My colesterol went down. I never get sick. (Knock on wood). I also started taking milk thistle. Here's the recipe. 3 Cups peeled garlic(very time comsuming to peel, I go to Costco and get the already peeled in the vegetable cooler) 1 1/2 Cups White Vinegar 1/2 Cup sugar 1/2 tsp. salt Bring vinegar, sugar & salt to a boil. Add peeled garlic & boil for 1 min. (if big garlic bulbs, boil a little longer) Put in jars and seal. After the jars cool down. Put in refrigerator for 1 week at least and start enjoying. Very tasty. You can start eating really as soon as you want. They last forever as long as they are in the refrigerator. But if you like them like I do, they won't last that long. I know I have had them in there for over a year before and still they were crisp and yummy. Enjoy ...........<°{((><{

Guest guest
You can crush the garlic slightly with a knife turned on its side or with another flat object, then the peel zips right off! Not very time-consuming anymore. Now worry about folks standing in elevator next to you next morning... ;-}
