Dear Betty

Try using virgin coconut oil as your body lotion/cream. It is non

greasy as the oil is eaily absorbed.

Peace and Blessings

Tea tree oil is very drying and normally used for antiseptic

purposes.

A non-scented soap is a good start but I would suggest a superfatted

handmade variety. Superfatted with extra skin loving oils or

butters- shea butter, avocado, cocoa butter, etc. A pure castile

bar soap is a good choice if it is made with olive oil.

Don't bathe in hot water and moisturize after towel drying. A lot

of lotions on the market contain too much water to really help super

dry skin. A whipped body butter will be more beneficial at this

point. You can make your own or buy it online. Try to find

something natural and unscented unless it contains essential oils.

Hope this helps,

Cindy

That hasn't been my experience at all. I find it to be very greasy

for awhile. I always put it on, let it sit for awhile, then use

something to pat off the greasiness. Maybe it's the amount I use?

Sameer, you may want to try an ancient and easy ayurvedic technique

for this common ailment...

Ayurveda reccomends daily oil massage prior to bathing. It is called

Abhyanga, and is done with an oil which is suitable for your bodily

constitution. There are several sites online (google " ayurveda " ) where

you may discover what this constitution is, for free. It is called

your " dosha " For Vata type, Sesame oil. Pitta type, coconut. Kapha

type, sunflower. Almond oil is fairly neutral, and could do well with

most people. Just warm the oil and massage it over your entire body

before taking a shower or bath. This helps to condition the skin and

retain moisture and body temperature throughout the day. I hope this

helps you!

Hello Sameer,

Have you tried lots and lots of lotion? As you can probably tell I

am no skin doctor, but this link(http://strmbank.snappyshop.com) can

take you to some informational guides on skin care and other " beauty "

tips. All of these guides are consumer tested and methods that work.

I have used some of these guides and have had great

results.

Have a great day,

David

Taking hemp or flax oil internally can help with many skin issues... also

bathing with some massage oil in the water can help.

Kadee - AFTER you get out of a bath/shower, while the skin is still

wet, put baby oil on a washcloth and run over all skin except face.

PAT dry - do't rub. I have done this for many years and can attest

that it works wonders. Inexpensive and simple. Helen

i have problems with my skin from my elbows down, my face, and my feet

i wash them pretty much 5 times a day as i am muslim, the water seems

to make everything worse so what i have come to do is you can take

vaseline and at night when you go to bed put vaseline on your hands

and put gloves on or buy a pair of tube socks i know it sounds

ridiculous but it works wonders for my face i use hydrocortizone cream

. also another thing that works is rubbing olive oil on your hands.

This is going to sound a bit weird, but you should try oil pulling. It has

completely

reversed my skin conditions and I no longer use lotion. It's simply swishing a

tablespoon

of oil around your mouth for 20 minutes each day, then spitting it out. It also

superbly

cleans your mouth and makes your teeth white. It's been practiced in Ayurvedia

for

thousands of years.

Here are two groups doing this. On the following, please look at the

" description " and the

" r " for recommended messages:

http://curezone.com/forums/f.asp?f=738

This group is seeing improvements with their long term skin condition:

http://www.keratosispilaris.org/showthread.php?t=4335

I also have been taking a tablespoon of Udo's Oil at each meal. I believe that

oil, inside

and out is key to the health of your skin as well as many organs.

Good luck.

When I worked in the Ellis- Fishelle State Cancer Hospital in Columbia,

Missouri, we would place Chemo Patients,(who have the worst dry skin in

the world,) in tubs of warm water with a cup or two of Medium Flake

Salt. You can buy it at any animal feed store for just a few dollars

for a 50 pound bag. You would think that a bath in a hyper-osmotic salt

bath would dry your skin out, but, the key is the hyper-osmotic

pressure of the salt water. It has a drawing effect and actually draws

your natural skin oil to the surface making your skin feel soft and

supple. Salt is one of the oldest remedies for skin problems in the

world! Modern medicine is just now beginning to rediscover the value of

salt! Sterile saline and mesalt dressings are very effective treatments

for bed sores and chronic skin breakdown. If you follow-up your salt

bath with application of Pure Emu Oil to your driest parts, you will

see dramatic improvement in just a few days!

In the winter, here in Ohio, I usually take a salt bath 2 or 3 times a

week to keep the winter dry skin in check!

While there are any number of oils and lotions that can help with your

dry skin, including hemp, avocado, grapeseed, apricot kernal, etc.,

it's a good idea to work from the inside out, too. Try a good

essential fatty acid formula that has a combinations of oils in a

capsule. If you order online, check out the Nature's Secret website

and their oil formula.

But I see you're in Pune, so you might check this place:

Organics and Naturals,

1 Kamaljia Apartments,

1306 Shivajinagar,

Bank of Baroda Lane,

J.M. Road, Pune 411005

If they don't have the supplement in capsule form, I'll bet they have

flax seeds that you can grind and add to your food. Flax seed oil

contains the essential fatty acids that help nourish cell membranes

and in turn, nourish your skin. If you haven't tried them, give them a

taste...they're kind of nutty, like sesame seeds, which are also a

good addition to your diet to help combat dry skin from the inside out.

Good luck!

Teatree is excellent for acne. You can apply it neat to the pimple (not

an all over solution, just spot-treatments). It is really good for oily

skin. It's an excellent anti-bacterial & anti-fungal.

Another good oil for acne is Palma rosa which is a sebum balancer,

although it would have to be diluted into a carrier oil or base

cream/gel. Only Teatree and Lavender essential oils should ever be used

neat on the skin, and even these can cause skin sensitivites if used for

prolonged period of time.

As with all essential oils, be aware of the quality of any product you

buy. Make sure you purchase essential oils from a reputable buyer so

that they are not adultered or synthetic, as this make aggravate, rather

than cure the problem or create new issues.

All of these are good treatments for skin issues for varying types of

skin, however, tea tree for instance, is horribly agitating to mine -

my dosha being prevalent pitta. tea tree just adds to the fire. there

is one good clean washer that has helped alleviate my rashes and that

is z mei facial cleanser. outside of that - NUTRITION! b12. and

infrared sauna will suck it up fast and healthy!
