Hi Julie,

I have inflammatory bowel disease also. I believe many of these illnesses are

caused by your immune system's reactions to viruses, bacteria, funguses,

parasites, toxins like excess hormones (sex hormones, stress hormones)(estrogen

is a growth stimulator), chemicals, etc. I feel better when I have a diet of

juiced veggies and fruits. I am looking into foods that are natural virus and

bacteria killers. I am trying to maintain a diet that is low in prostaglandin

production which causes inflammation (meat, milk, and grains like wheat). When I

eat omega 3s and omega 3 precursers I notice less inflammation. (cod liver oil,

walnuts, flax seed oil, olive oil, Alaskan Salmon).

It is hard to know what to eat to help your body best deal with what is going

on, and because I have a 3 year old, it is hard to eat the way I feel I need

too. Besides juicing and green drinks (barley juice powder) you can look into a

reputable acidophilus and bifidus (two good bacteria) supplement. These bacteria

compete with bad bacteria and fungi for food. They create b vitamins in the

body. There are many things to learn on the internet and many things to try. I

had ulcerative proctitis, and took sulfasalazine which helped me because it is

from an antibiotic. But there are many foods which are natural antibiotics,

antiparasitsics, antifungal, and antiviral like all fresh or steamed veggies,

fruits, garlic, onions, cilantro, virgin coconut oil, seeds like pumpkin seeds,

etc. And the herb you took, olive leaf extract is one. Others are grapefruit

seed extract, pau d'arco tea, caprylic acid, grapeseed extract, garlic, LOT's

MORE! Definitely avoid meat except fish( try free range

eggs instead of the common kind), milk except yogurt, sugar (feeds bad bacteria

and fungus) salt, and wheat products. Good luck!
