Hi all,

Opinions vary so greatly about the suitable amount of

calcium/magnesium/Vit.D combo to take to prevent and/or reverse

osteoporosis. I'm at a real loss.

I have been diagnosed with severe osteoporosis. I am 59 and very

thin. The doctor prescribed Fosamax, plus 1500 mgs. calcium. She

never mentioned magnesium. I remember reading that the magnesium

ratio should be higher; e.g., 500 cal. and 600 mag. I also read that

higher doses of magnesium take care of muscle cramps and anxiety,

both of which I suffer greatly. Hence, I am taking the Fosamax, 1000

cal/400 mag/500 Vit. D combo for the osteo problem and an extra 400

mag. for the anxiety and muscle cramps.

Frankly, I still have a lot of anxiety and profuse hand and foot

cramps several times a week. I'm very confused.

Your aware responses appreciated.

In a case of osteoporosis, the most important thing to do

is eliminate the Dairy foods. The phosphorus in Dairy is

problematic. There are a few other reasons that Dairy

is not good for your bones as well. However...

They would probably be too numerous to list here.

For healthy bones, the best source of calcium is from organic foods,

contrary to what you've been told from the Dairy

conglomerate!

Supplemental calcium is not absorbed well, shouldn't be

taken in with magnesium and not is such large quantities

as orthodox medicine recommends.

Excessive amounts of calcium proves to be

problematic in calciumosis, arteriosclerosis, kidney stones,

arthritis and other diseases as well.

Osteoporosis is certainly NOT a lack of calcium, rather it may worsen the

problem when taken in supplemental form!

Too MUCH calcium can and WILL be just as problematic as too little.

The calcium when taken in a combination with other minerals is much more

effective!~

... I believe the best calcium is derived from fresh whole fruits,

and other plant foods such as beans, spinach and kale.

Calcium is not absorbed well when taken in combination

with phosphorus (as in Dairy). It is best absorbed from

fresh organic greens and in a combination with the existing boron and other

trace minerals in these green plant foods!

There are many plant foods which contain an abundance of Boron.

Women need boron to build up their bones,

and to counteract the effects of aging.

If your body takes in too much phosphorus, (from soft drinks,

caffeine, sugar, Dairy and other acidic processed foods so prevalent

in our society)...these things tend to leach calcium from

the bones faster than your body can provide it in the diet.

Contrary to what you've heard, its not the AMOUNTS of calcium

which are taken in, rather the

components which accompany the calcium which makes the calcium

more readily available and absorbable.

The only calcium I would recommend for bones is a liquid product

made by

Flora Inc in Canada.

Vitamin D and vitamin K are also essential, with magnesium and

potassium and some other trace minerals which are best derived from

our foods.

Supplemental calcium should not be taken in combination with

magnesium, rather it should be taken at separate times of the day to

provide the most benefits.

Veggies rich in vitamin K, such as broccoli, cauliflower and cabbage

are wonderful for rebuilding bones. cold water fish (alaskan

salmon, sardines in water) along with 20 minutes or so of sunshine

each day are also essential for rebuilding bones.

If eliminating Dairy proves to be a problem, try some plain

organic yogurt each day in combination with some fresh organic

fruit.I phased out the Dairy using powdered goat's milk in my smoothies.

Alfred Vogel offers a cultured goatmilk that provides a fabulous

Dairy substitute as well. His product goes by the name of " Molkosan " .

Fosamax restores bone loss??.

I think not! John Lee has addressed this question on his site.

If you have any questions regarding the material

I've offered here,

you may email me at either email address at any time.

God Bless!
