Guest guest
Dear Somebody Several years ago I did a web design course and we were advised to make the web sites in any colour but white to help people avoid retinal burn. I did some research on this and wondered if I should wear blue tinted specctacles when using the internet especially as white seems to be a popular background colour for web sites and of course email. I would be grateful for any further information and suggestions. Margaret
Guest guest
Margaret, Use a browser such as Opera and you can easily override website colours with your own style sheet. You can make everything appear as green text on a black background if you want. Opera comes with a large selection of options that you can use immediately. http://www.opera.com/whyopera/ As for retinal burn, I think that isn't likely, monitors are not blazing bright, they're actually rather dim. However you can get eyestrain from just looking close at the screen (or book, or close-up work, whatever) for long periods of time. It's best to take a break and let your eyes focus at infinity (down the end of a long hallway, for example) to rest your eyes and prevent changes.
