Guest guest
My husband had what we thought was a TIA but doctors ruled out a stroke, AVM or anurysm but the " stuff " still showed up at the bottom of the brain. To make a long story short, we went to the Methodist Hospital in Houston and saw a top man at the Baylor School of Medicine who found that two arteries in the brain were very constricted and that a stroke was imminent. After seeing the film, we opted to have a relatively new procedure done. They put stents in two of the arteries of the brain. He walked out of ICU 24 hrs later and out of the hospital 24 hours after that. Also, drove 4½ hours home 48 hours after the procedure. They still do not know where the " stuff " came from as it was in a completely different area of the brain. One comment was that the body evidently healed itself as it was evident something had happened. He had never had problems with cholesterol, triglycerides or high blood pressure readings and is very active but we are now looking at diet more carefully, along with exercise and havae added additional supplements. We are thankful for medical science but prefer to go the alternate route whenever possible. However, we are grateful that we found someone who does this procedure as there are only 5 hospitals and 10 doctors in the world doing this at the present time and they gave us exceptional care. Alternate care would not have done us any good at the stage he was. The artery was about the size of a pencil and the constricted area was about the size of the lead in the pencil.....walking stroke was the way they put it. Giving thanks every day.........Eloise
