Guest guest
Shannon, You can find out everything you need to know about medications through searches on Google and the many mainstream pharmaceutical medicine-based websites. I recommend reading the full product information sheet as it describes in detail the mechanism of action and side effects. For example, Meridia substantially increases blood pressure in some people. Personally, I wouldn't touch either of these drugs because its controlled by lifestyle, but that's a decision that you'll need to make on your own. Insulin sensitivity is increased with exercise, aerobic and weight-bearing, with lifting weights being one of the best ways to increase insulin sensitivity. It works far better than any drug. Research & follow a low glycemic diet. Most diets/eating plans/books out there include the concept of the glycemic or insulin index. This includes Mercola's Eating Plan, The Glycemic Diet, Atkins Diet, Paleolithic Diet, Syndrome X diet, and more. All of these can reverse insulin resistance. I recommend books on the last two: The Paleo Diet by Dr. Loren Cordain, and Syndrome X by Jack Challem, both very well-known. It's harder and longer to make the lifestyle changes than take pills, but it works, and is permanent. Good luck on your quest! David E.
