Guest guest
http://mercola.com/2004/feb/28/congress_abuse.htm Outrageous Congressional Abuse Rep. Billy Tauzin, who was instrumental in passing the new Medicare prescription drug law, has resigned from his powerful position of chairman of the House Energy and Commerce Committee and is considering taking a new position as head of the lobbying operation of the Pharmaceutical Research and Manufacturers of America, or PhRMA. Watchdog groups have expressed concerns over a potential conflict of interest. Tauzin was deeply involved in making legislation involving drug benefits and the groups are concerned that he was having discussions about his potential new job while still heading a committee that crafts legislation for the same industry. PhRMA represents major drug manufacturers such as Eli Lilly and Co. and Merck & Co., and Tauzin has acknowledged interest in the job. The Desert Sun February 4, 2004 Dr. Mercola's Comment: Billy Tauzin is the Louisiana congressman who was instrumental in passing Medicare prescription drug legislation. He is now leaving Congress and may be heading straight for a VERY large paycheck from the drug companies. Now that he is leaving Congress, and if he accepts the job, he will be earning somewhere around $2 million for betraying the American public. The drug companies are no strangers to conflicts of interest either. Why isn't there some law against this? This is the exact type of moral corruption that people will not tolerate anymore and one of the reasons this site exists, to facilitate a transformation of this fatally flawed and corrupted paradigm. This Web site, which was founded on the basic principle of providing the public with honest, comprehensive, and well-researched guidance on the best nutrition, medicine, emotional therapy and lifestyle choices that you can make to achieve total health and wellness, has become increasingly popular as more and more people become aware of the dangerous habits and techniques used by the traditional medical system. That said, we will soon be forming an alliance with other groups that have similar missions and share our desire to take control of our own health and no longer want to rely on drugs and surgery to survive.
