Dear Group,

What most people suffer from is an information defeciency.

That is understandable. It is hard to find good reliable information about

natural or allopathic healing. The information is a mess and there is so much

hype.

We have all been taught to think in a certain way. ie. that symptoms are desease

and to treat symptoms in the hope that they will go away.

Most of the whole medical establishment system is based on that way of thinking.

Heartburn = take this pill, high cholesterol = take this pill, high blood

pressure = take this pill. etc.

Ask the doctor what caused your high blood pressure, cholesterol etc. and he

will tell you that " we don't know but some day science will find out " .

So, how come if they don't know, they are giving you a pill to take to correct

the synptom?

Aha, that is a biggie. You need to understand the difference between treating

and curing.

Treating a disease or a symptoms of a disease, is treating the symptom to make

it more comfortable, or some say in the hope that the underlying problem will go

away, or that if the symptom is stopped that maybe no further damage will result

to the system.

Your body is about 1000 times more complex than your car, lawnmower,

refrigerator, etc, but can you imagine accepting this type of thinking to fix

say your car.

Bear with me a moment. Say that your car's red light indicater came on showing

that you needed oil or that the light for overheating came on and you took it to

a mechanic and he said well I don't know what causes the light to come on but we

can put a piece of tape over the light (symptom) in the hope that you will be

more comfortable driving the car or that we can hope that somehow solves the

problem. He doesn't have a clue of what is wrong really, but tells you that

there is a number of treatments available like. tape, paint, cutting the wire,

etc.

Hopefully you would look at the guy like he was crazy, but that is what most of

us do day in and day out going to doctors. We hear them say we have so and so

type health problem and because we are not familiar with the biology and

termonology involved we assume that we have been diagnosed with a disease and

then when we get a prescription that we have been given a cure.

But not so fast. Hidden in all of that medical lingo, mumbo jumbo and doubletalk

is an answer. ( heh, heh, these guys have encountered this problem before and

have they got an answer for you.)

Well this is a treatment for _________ disease or condition. Treatment???

Sound's good no? but what does it mean really. It usually doesn't mean cure, I

can tell you that much.

It means we don't know what your problem is really or what is causing it, but we

can recognize the symptoms. You probably already recognized the symptoms too or

you probably wouldn't be there.

But the doctor gives you a name to describe the symptoms, which you think is the

disease, and gives you some medicine which is a treatment and you think is a

potential cure and out you go to come back again on a periodic basis for more

treatment.

You are probably saying that is ridiculas, no one would do that. It would never

work as a system. Someone would tell, they would get some hot shot reporter and

spill the beans. The government would put a stop to that, etc. To explain how

that it is possible would take books to do so so forget it in an email.

Bottom line is that the medical industry is one of the most profitable

businesses in the world.

Let me give you an example. If you have a magnesium deficiency you can get high

blood pressure and heart palptations.( there are a lot of other things that can

cause high blood pressure also ) but if you present yourself to the doctor he

uses basically the same products to treat it no matter what the cause. He treats

the symptom not the cause ( the magnesium defeciency). So he gives you some high

blood pressure pills and it goes down and you think that it took care of the

problem. But it didn't, you still have that magnesium defeciency going on and

probably getting worse. Magnesium is used for hundereds of other things in the

body too, so eventually some other symptoms show up and guess what, boy are you

lucky they have names for those conditions also and some more pills just for

that purpose too. Kaching. Maybe eventually you will need to go to the hospital

or have and operation. Kaching. Kaching.

Which do you think is a better business model? Have the pharmacuetical companies

sell you a 2 cent magnesium pill or all of that other stuff?

Hey, wait a minute, maybe they don't about that magnesium defeciency stuff and

some day science will discover it and the whole system will eventually catch up,

right? Bad news here, science already discovered that many many years ago no one

seemed to care. they went right on selling their pills, appointments, surguries,

hospital stays etc.

We are taught to think of " medicine " as an altruistic thing like religion,

patriotism, motherhood, apple pie, etc. But that isn't what it is really about

and I don't care how nice or empathetic your doctor is. It isn't about one

person whether they are good or bad. It is about an industry which has strict

guidelines. To be a part of it you have to play by their rules or you will have

a very tough way to go..

I know that most of you will not believe what I have written and it is a lot

more complex than that, but I cannot write a book here.

You are going to have to find the truth yourself. I cannot take on the

responsibility for your education. I cannot educate you. Only you can educate

yourself.

I can post articles but I cannot make you read them. I can put up message

boards, but I cannot make you go there. I can put up tons of links on our links

page to a lot of great sites that could help you become educated about health,

but I cannot make you go there and read those sites.

All of us have been taught to not do those things for our health. We have been

taught to " See your doctor " , " follow your doctor's orders " , " Take care of your

health, see your doctor " , etc. We have been taught to give up our

responsibility to someone else. After all we don't know anything about all of

that medical mumbo jumbo. Well, I hate to be the one to break the bad news to

you but they don't know much about that mumbo jumbo either, no matter what kind

of front the establishment puts on.

So, we now come to choices. We can go with the establishment, but for most of us

that already hasn't worked, so that is why we are here.

We can locate an alternative health practioner and hope that we can find one

with the needle in the haystack method, or.....

Shit, shit , shit, we can do the job ourselves. I don't want to have to become

my own doctor either. I want the money that goes into the system to cover my

choice of health care too, but that isn't the case here, so.....

I didn't say that it was fair or easy.

Wait a minute. How about if I go to the group and ask them what I should take

for my medical problem. Good choice but bad question.

No one can diagnose, treat and cure in an email. You will get a lot of different

answers though. Some pretty good, some so-so, and some downright stupid or

harmfull. So, which ones do you use from all that? If you have no education in

the matter, then you are right back to not knowing and not being able to discern

what is good and what isn't.

The real question has to be, " where can I find information on my health problems

so that I can educate myself for what I need to do " .

For natural healing is usually more than just take this pill, vitamin or

otherwise. Yes, there are some schools of thought that go, treat the symptom

with this type herb or whatever and some times it works, but sometimes it

doesn't, like in the magnesium example above. That way of thinking is very

ingrained in our thinking process about health.

For anyone to really understand natural healing it would require that you

understand nutrition, herbs, homeopathy, acupuncture, etc.which can be a bit

much when we look at it like that, but we don't have to become a practicioner in

all of those things. We just need to learn about general things and our problems

in specifics.

So, if you want to get well and stay well for real, here is what you have to do.

(If you do not believe me, go back and reread the whole thing again.

Start by going to a site that explains good basic stuff. And here is where the

homework comes in (see subject of this email).

I want you all to go to:

http://www.doctoryourself.com and read six articles of your choice. This site

has easy reading and the articles are written in such a way that they are easy

to understand.

If you are not willing to do this, you are willing to do what it takes to get

well. You are probably not looking to learn about natural healing, but are

really intersted in magic.

So, that is your assignments. Go to doctoryourself.com and read six articles.

After you have done that, ask yourself was it worth it and do you want to learn

more? You just may find out that it was some of the best reading that you have

ever done.

When you get done with that, we can have a pop quiz or something.
