Evening Merlynn,

I tried to find the first message in this thread. Hopefully I did.

At times, my protein drink makes me sleepy. NO other odd or bad feelings.

This feeling goes away in 30 to 45 minutes.

Sometimes I think the volume is too much. Depending on what I add, it

may be as much as 24 to 30 ounces. Often I drink it too fast as well.

Two or three of the large eggs, plus a full cup of blueberries, two

tbs flax seed, and a few soaked almonds, makes a heavy load for the

digestion system.

ALso.... two TBS of flax oil at times. SO...... the poor body needs to

go to sleep to digest all that. <grin>

I still use 16 ounces of skim milk. Contrary to all the bad scientific

facts, milk has kept me disease free for 65 years. Maybe it will do so for

65 more, but I doubt that.

I have noticed that nothing makes me sleep as good as the workout with

weights.

Often I yawn before the workout is finished. Some say this is oxygen

depletion, but I think there is more to it than that.

I virtually never get tired or sleepy either. The Iron pills is the

only sleeping pill I have ever used in my life.

I have stated, the number one benefit of the weight lifting is that it

makes me sleep, something I have always hated to do.

When I way much younger, I would miss many nights sleep, working

around the clock and often for two to 4 days without going to bed. I would

catch a short nap on the desk or in my car.

I can't tell the loss of sleep every damaged my health.

Once I went from Friday AM to Sunday, 2 am, and was driving most of that

time.

When I reached my destination Sunday at 2 am, I felt like going out on the

town.

I did not know where to go, this was Washington, DC, so... I just lay in

bed and read a magazine for an hour.

Agreed, I was pumping nutrients, lots of food, and lots of good fruit on

the trip.

I was traveling alone, no company to keep me awake.

Those were the good old days.

Now I force myself to sleep. Usually I feel great after 4 or 5

hours. Often I try to sleep 3 or 4 hours more. Sometimes I can,

sometimes I can't.

By the way, I use Spirutein Sports by Natures plus. Just picked up two

cans today. I use two cans per month, sometimes more.

Merlynn,

Oh boy.....Asthma, allergies, and congestion....the story of my

life!!!! First of all, forget the protein drinks for gaining weight.

They are taxing on your digestion and that LAST thing an asthmatic

needs it to tax the digestion. Do yourself a favor: read the

book " Sugar Blues " by William Dufty. It won't talk about asthma, but

the treatment methods for asthma are the *exact* same as for

hypoglycemia/digestion probs, and the book WILL teach you how to read

the labels of the foods you are eating. It also teaches you about

DIGESTION, something VERY, very important for an asthmatic.

And sorry, but get rid of all the milk, cheese, yogurt, or any other

milk products out of your diet, just for now. In some people (like

myself) we can not tolerate large amounts of milk/cheese/yogurt in

our digestion. Be gentle to your stomach. Try some fresh

fruit/vegetable juicing instead.

I am 30 yrs old and due to getting the digestion & hypoglycemia under

control have lived asthma-free for almost 7 years. This really does

work.

Lastly, if you are able to get it, see if you can find Magnesium in

electrolyte ( " dissolved in water " ) form (Eniva's Magnesium is

WONDERFUL). Magnesium has a calming effect on asthma/inflammation. I

still take it daily in the evenings.

Cheers!

Kristin
