Guest guest
Prednisone is a dangerous medication. I allowed a doctor to prescribe it for me years ago, and it took a long time, reducing the dose, to safely get off it. Sudden withdrawl can result in a heart attack. Do follow instructions carefully. You may like to view the Lasotronic website (Swiss therapeutic lasers) for links on the subject of low energy laser therapy. There is substantial research, over 20 yrs., that demonstrates the usefulness of these types of lasers with healing post-operative wounds, and conditions which may be similar to yours. I don't know that it would be wise to suggest only using a therapeutic laser to treat yourself, but it may be helpful in speeding up the healing process, while also utilizing some other type of treatment. It sure seems like you have some sort of infection, which you'll want to take care of. Some sports medicine clinics have low energy lasers, but the treatment is not so well known in N. America. If you have medical coverage for such things, you might like to check it out, as well as whatever else you plan to do. I bought a therapeutic laser a few years ago, at about $1000.00 --so you'll see they're not inexpensive. Something else you might consider is hyperbaric oxygen. We have a chamber in our city, maybe you do too. I sure wish you well with this, it sure seems a troubling condition. Steve - gingercherie1 Monday, February 09, 2004 7:33 AM Ulcerations of the Legs If anyone can help me, I am a 26 yr old female with no past medical history over the summer I developed large red nodules on both my shins. The doctors called this erythema nodosum, they later ulcerated and have been open for about 3 months now, I can get no answer from my doctors, it was first thought to be sarcoidosis, then Bechet's Disease, now they are telling me that it is something called Pyroderma Gangernosum. I was given Prednisone starting at 120mg a day and decreasing by the week, I was taking this for about 2 months, it was supposed to stop the progression. Because that didn't work they put me on cyclosporine, a medicine that I have to be very cautious with. Please any help will be greatly appreciated!!!
