Guest guest
Hi, I have serious asthma and the constant struggle to breathe and rid myself of congestion has caused a tremendous weight loss. I need to gain 30 lbs. I'm not a big eater; that is, I eat small amounts which make me feel full. I have to drink a lot of water with each meal so as to help me swallow (a problem). Anyway, I don't eat meat or sweets, and breads only once or twice a week, so I'm not racking up a lot of calories with what's left to eat. After trying several weight-lifter formulas for weight gain, (no soy), I found one that will give me the largest amount of calories for even just a 1/2 serving (since the full serving is way too much liquid at one time for me). What puzzles me, however, I become very lethargic and sleepy after drinking the product. It makes me feel so over-stuffed, I have to actually kick-back for at least half an hour. This particular product is high protein and low fat. I've tried the high protein, high fat and feel the same, and they all taste terribly chauky and are way too sweet. Your opinions are appreciated. I've had a similar reaction to many of the products. I thought it was soy too but then I reacted to the rice and whey proteins. The only one I haven't reacted to is Hemp protein powders (and other Hemp products -power bars, nuts...). There's a lot of junk in the body builder powders - I would definately keep away from them!. Some of the powders - even some of the wheys - have MSG in them, and a lot of people react to that. In the past, I've used the metagenics line of powders with good success. However, they are pricey (and I can't afford them right now). They are at: http://www.ultrabalance.com/products/catalog/catalog.asp? type=2 & val=30 You may want to look into enzymes, as it's likely a digestive issue your dealing with.
