Guest guest
Dear Myra: You were addressing several questions re raw food juicing, and the advantages & disadvantages using juicers (which remove pulp/fiber) and blenders/or VitaMix machines, which leave it in. For me, it is a matter of purpose. If I am doing a cleanse, or a juice/water fast, I use my juicer. And in point of fact, I fast one day a week and 3-5 days each month. I cleanse (liver, gallbladder, colon) one week each season. If I become ill, which is very rare, I stop eating and go to juices - and for me, I always dilute my raw juices so as to control the worse effects of too-fast cleansing symptoms. But for my regular daily food needs, I use my blender more or the VitaMix for heavy jobs. Making soups, sauces, salad dressings, smoothies, desserts, slushies, etc, I want the full benefits of pulp and fiber, so I use the best (organic) veggies & fruits I can find, and I grow a lot, and I clean them well instead of peeling most of them. My system likes and tolerates well this kind of eating, mainly because it was my natural eating habits as a rural child. Lots of veggies, in season and grown locally, likewise fruits, nuts and seeds. Also, most of our meat was wild game or freshly caught fish, or family-raised chickens, ducks, and the occasional beef or goat. Now, as I enter my 7th decade, I am turning more and more to the ease, and digestibility and good nutrition of lots of raw foods and juicing. Myra, be willing to experiment and trust yourself to make the decisions that work for you. You are on the right track! May you walk and eat in Beauty.
