Guest guest
Evening Myra, >Can anybody explain all this to me? What is the best choice for someone >like me who >wants the best nutrition and doesn't know where to turn? You have to turn in all directions. The concept of juicing has been around many years. The idea is that it allows one to ingest nutrients in a quantity that they would not be able to get otherwise. For example, you can juice a bunch of carrots in a minute or two, drink the juice and you have most of the nutrients, less the fiber. If you had the time, made the effort, and did in fact eat the same food, had a perfect digestion system, and a few other if's, the eating of the complete food would be better. Most people cannot imagine how much time and effort is required to eat raw food all day long. >the benefits of the uncooked, raw >nutrients and how they nurture the body. But on the other hand, I hear that >juicing strips the fruits and vegetables of their fiber content, which cannot >be good, especially since I need to eat slower digesting, higher fiber foods, >being hypoglycemic. The concept of eating lots of raw food assumes healthy individuals. Anyone with a compromised digestion system or even minor ailments, will not be able to process the food efficiently. Just how many raw turnips can you eat without a digestion problem. I eat lots of raw peanuts when I can get them. The same is true with pecans. I often make a meal of nothing but nuts and seeds. One had to be aware of food combining and what will combine, and what won't. Another factor is the time interval between specific foods. Learning both of these factors are necessary for continuous eating of raw foods, or even cooked foods for that matter. A few people have studied all this, rationalized it to the point of eating one food at a time. Or.... selected foods of the same type. >Truthfully I get very confused about conflicting information about juicing. >One one hand I hear how good it is for you -- If you have the juicer, and the fruit or vegetables, then use it. Surely you don't think it is one or the other? You can do both. >> especially since I need to eat slower digesting, higher fiber foods, >> being hypoglycemic. Seems you would need to be more selective of the fruit and vegetables used, than a person with no such problem. In addition, You may need smaller quantities of these food, both juice and whole items, than other people would. Most carbs are going to move out of the stomach faster than fats or proteins. Try eating high fat seeds and nuts such as sunflower seeds, walnuts, almonds, and pumpkin seeds. If you have nutritional problems whereas you need quarts or gallons of juice per day, considering some supplements, enzymes, and amino acids might be in order. Eating small quantities of seeds and nuts every hour or so might work for you. Wayne
