Guest guest
I am curious about adaptogens that help the body to reduce cortisol levels. I have a suspicion that my body reacts to stress (including strenuous exercise) by shutting down the hypothalamic pituitary axis, which results in a faulure to produce hormones. I was reading this article: http://www.dadamo.com/napharm/store3/template2/cortiguard.htm which states that herbs like ginseng, and suppliments like Phosphatidylserine can help to reduce plasma cortisol levels and help the body to return cortisol to a more normal level after stress. Thisa article: http://smart-drugs.net/Smart/info-ALC.htm suggests that " Acetyl L-Carnitine inhibits the excessive release of Cortisol in response to Stress and inhibits the depletion of Luteinising Hormone Releasing Hormone (LHRH) and Testosterone that occurs as a result of excessive Stress. " Any other info on adaptogens and cortisol reducing methods?

I'm also taking DHEA, which was low. And Amaplex, Vit E (800 IU), B12, Folic Acid (5mg) for low sIGA. Best to get your adrenals tested to actual see what your coritsol levels are.
