Answer to Only You Can 'Cure' Yourself

Yes, I think it is crazy.

I am convinced that my illness is life threatening. I have the capacity to

take my own life if I don't stay on my meds. I can also lose control of my life.

I can get wrapped in a straight jacket and taken to a hospital and be

committed. I then have to ask someone for permission to go out and smoke. That

will

only happen if someone deems my behavior suitable. I can't go out and mess in

my garden, I can't be a Mom to my son. There is no joy in having one's life out

of control. Managing mental illness from day to day is a chore.

I HATE my meds. I HATE being fat. But, the alternative life style or being

dead are not good choices.

I hope people who really need meds don't justify stopping their treatment

after reading something like this.

Mentally ill people do have civil rights. Lots of money is spent

hospitalizing them, getting the meds stabilized, and then they get out of the

controlled

environment, they don't have to take them. No one can force you to take meds!

People stop taking their meds, start to get sick again, unable to care for

themselves and become homeless, victims of crime or commit crimes and all sorts

of

other stuff.

I couldn't go on reading all of this....

Teresa,

Whatever your health problem, you have come to the

right place to look for solutions.

There's no magic bullet. Health is the result of

thousands of small choices and steps.

Perhaps set one small goal, such as walking around

the block each day. Make a chart and give yourself a

star for each day you remember. Or give yourself a

star for every day you do not smoke, or drink diet

pop, for example. Each new good habit is like money in

the bank as far as your future health is concerned.

Imagine how great you will look and feel at 80!

If you take the time to read the information posted

here and to apply what you learn, I believe no matter

what your health concern, you will get healthier.

Best wishes for a great new year!
