Senator John McCain of Arizona has co-sponsored the Supplement Safety Bill

that gives the Food & Drug Administration (FDA) the authority to remove a

supplement from the market after " one (1)or more serious adverse events

indicates that a...significant risk... "

 

Senator McCain is a very high profile senator who ran for president in the

Republican primary in 2000. He still has presidential ambitions and has a

national following by demonstrating his independence on some high profile

issues.He may be responsive to

strong expressions of opposition from people outside Arizona. We should be

organizing to have someone from Arizona to organize a meeting with Senator

McCain in one of the Arizona offices to explain our opposition and present

the compelling statistical and scientific evidence showing the

overwhelmingly safe record of dietary supplements compared to FDA regulated

prescription drugs.
