[sSRI-Research] Depression not related to 'chemical Imbalance'

article in newsweek 12-8-03 and posted on MSNBC.com

Going Beyond Prozac

by Micheal C. Miller, MD

http://www.msnbc.com/news/999324.asp

depression is not related to chemical imballance....ie serotonin, but is more

likely related to endrocine system... ie hypothalamus, hippocampus.

new drugs to target these brain structures.

it has been postulated for years now that the SSRIs effect the

hypothalamous/pitutary axis, and this movement away from serotonin is

continuing.

who wants to bet any drug speciffically targeting the endricine system for

depression will have the same track record as nor-plant and associated hormanal

products discovered to do serious harm.

guinie pig anyone?
